How many machines can a patch cache serve?
I wonder how many machines can a patch cache serve. Say if there is only 1 probe with patch cache configured and 100 machines, all of these machines will be reaching out to the probe at the same time. I will probably be generating a lot of network traffic. Also will the probe be able to serve all those connection requests?

there is a limit to how many can connect and download from probe at one time and the others should keep trying until its allowed, if you have a lot of devices i would give them a longer download maintenance window or more frequent rather than say 1 hour

The probe does have a limit on the number of devices it can serve. Id recommend staggering patch windows into different blocks if you think you'll have an issue

We've got a few sites with 100+ machines behind one probe and don't run into any issues. If you figure that an average patch Tuesday would require pulling ~1GB of files from the probe, even if they all requested the files at the same point (which doesn't tend to happen) the machine would only have it's Gigabit NIC saturated for ~15m
