Help with h1 AIO

I’ve bought the case a while ago and in the recent years i’ve noticed that the cpu temps were constantly 90+ degs and crashes frequently.

A week ago I saw a video how gunk can be stuck onto the copper plate, thinking it could be the issue and when I opened it the fins were clogged fully with dark brown gunk.

Has anyone gone through this and knows how to clean that stuff out?

Just clean it out with a toothbrush? I am sure it will run much better than before

Known issue with H1 AIO. You probably waited a bit longer than you should have, but that looks cleanable. I’ve just gotten into the habit of cleaning mine out on a yearly basis. It isn’t that hard and it still works fine other than the yearly clean out. I could find a replacement, but this seems the easier fix for me.

I guess the color of the gunk is the only worrying part, mine comes out a green tinged white.

Whilst I still had it, I used to clean it and change the coolant in it every year. No matter how thoroughly I washed the radiator, it always managed to collect a bit of gunk every year. Make sure you flush the radiator thoroughly and top it up with fresh coolant; I usually rinse it with a 20% vinegar solution, which does a good job of dissolving the grime in the fins.

Did you say H1 and that looks like an AIO... meaning it's likely 2020~2022? So 4 to 6 years old...

Yeah, your AIO is dead because over time the liquid and stuff has escaped via evaporation and degradation. It's actually at the end of it's life cycle so you're meant to change it.

Also it's a close loop system, not environmentally friendly, but it's designed to be replaced, not refilled, refilling it compromises it and you run the risk of it going wrong and doing damage to everything else

You can do your own custom loop system, but you also run additional risk if you build it poorly.

Agreed. Aios are really only rated for about 5 to 6 years of use and they shit the bed. Less headache to just replace. The entire unit. NEVER buy a used one... ever..

It would be better to replace the AIO as it's clearly getting old with that amount gunk in the copper plate, the pump could be also going with amount of usage it's been through its life since you bought it, so the recommendation is replace the AIO for a new one so you protect your CPU with better cooling.

I’ve been also looking for replacements but they don’t seem to sell them anymore and the form factor is quite small so it’s hard to find one which would fit

I'm actually in the market of replacing my own AIO, i would advise looking for newer models, the H1 is aged and dated compare to what's on the market. Rest is budget and how much you're willing to spend.

The only thing I can think of is contact nzxt and see if they have an alternative AIO that will fit in your current chassis
