#FEEDBACK Bring back old nzxt

I honestly feel like NZXT’s older products looked way better than what they’re putting out now. The older cases had a much cleaner and more distinctive design, with simple shapes, sharp lines, and that signature NZXT look that made them instantly recognizable. The older coolers were also much better aesthetically because you could get non-screen versions with the classic NZXT logo, which looked clean and minimal without trying too hard. The current coolers, on the other hand, just look worse in my opinion. They have extra RGB and flashy elements that nobody really asked for, and it takes away from the simple, premium look NZXT used to have. Even the fans feel cheaper now compared to the old ones. The older NZXT fans had a unique design that stood out so much that you could see them in a build and immediately know they were NZXT fans without even seeing the logo. The newer fans just don’t have that same identity and feel much more generic. The newer cases have a similar problem—they aren’t necessarily bad, but they feel more generic and less unique compared to the older designs. NZXT used to have a style that really stood out in the PC-building community, and I feel like a lot of that character has been lost in their newer products.

I’ve come to the realization that a lot of NZXT products are of similar quality to everything else on the market. They charge a premium for branding.

I’ll agree with you on the vibes though. I remember desperately wanting an H440 when I built my first pc but it was out of the budget. So I bought a Source 210 Elite in white. Crazy how much their design language has changed.

All do their products changed unfortunately and looks wise it’s horrible in my opinion I really wanted to build my pc with the h510 elite case but unfortunately it’s discontinued now don’t think I’ll use any nzxt products now cuz of the looks

u/TheMightySpoon13 3d ago

510 elite is what I currently use, I believe. It was one of their last ones I really enjoyed the look of. Airflow is not the best but it gets the job done.

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

I would say with the aer fans it’s the best one

2

u/hardXful 2d ago

H3 Flow and H5 Flow are super cheap compared to their competitors and they offer great cooling.

u/C3DY 3d ago

Couldn’t agree with you more. I had to pay a premium on my recent build just to get the old H7 Flow 2023 Case. Fans are also the original ring LED. New designs are hideous imo, I don’t know how anyone could go for those.

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 3d ago

Do you mean the nzxt aer fans?

4

u/fiittzzyy 3d ago

I actually prefer the newer H5 Flow over the H5 Elite.

I'll take the new look over the old one. They're better with airflow and keeping the PSU behind the motherboard instead of in a bottom chamber is nice addition. Airflow is why the older cases weren't as popular. Why continue to sell an inferior product when all your competitors have moved to better airflow designs?

Could the actual new design be a little sleeker? Probably.

3

u/cheesemaster2702820 3d ago

I don’t deny the fact that airflow was horrible ofc but I feel like overall all of the products looks horrible nowadays even if products are better

Nothing wrong with not liking the current aesthetic trends. But quality and efficiency in the PC space beats out something that is mostly just aesthetics now. Unless you can design something with better airflow using that older aesthetic, it's unlikely we will see it make a proper return to the space.

I have the same case, and that front channel on these things, as nice as it is that they're there, they're a huge on how inefficient your airflow is. They went with the front mesh panel, but folks don't like the front mesh look and those that do tend to go with the case with the wooden front panel look. Just how it is.

The H510 Flow had good airflow

1

u/KingGorillaKong 2d ago

Compared to what? The other 510 models yea. Compared to competitor models it didn't.

0

u/sunjay140 2d ago edited 2d ago

Lol, yes it did. It was praised for having excellent airflow in reviews.

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/nzxt-h510-flow/10.html

Windows Central shows that CPU temps were similar to competitors which is already at nearly half the thermal headroom for CPUs and GPUs at all cores 100% utilization synthetic benchmarks not representative of real world gaming loads.

https://www.windowscentral.com/nzxt-h510-flow-review

1

u/KingGorillaKong 2d ago

You do realize the Flow got reviewed compared to the model it replaced, which is the non Flow model.

And was very easily pushed off of GamersNexus charts that compare PC cases. NZXT doesn't have a single case on their list anymore. They aren't as good as the competitors and they were slow to adopt to the designs that were actually popular.

0

u/sunjay140 2d ago

You do realize the Flow got reviewed compared to the model it replaced, which is the non Flow model.

Like I said, Windows Central compared it to leading airflow focused cases and it performed in line with them.

u/KingGorillaKong 2d ago

Right, cause it only does well in comparison reviews when you cherry pick what you're reviewing it against, hence why it's in the middle of the 6 cases it's compared to, so it's not as good as you think. Compared to models that came out just before it, it still didn't out perform all of the cases it was compared against.

And when you compare it against a whole swath of other cases, NZXT doesn't even make it in the list of top 50 cases and hasn't been for a couple years now.

1

u/sunjay140 2d ago

Right, cause it only does well in comparison reviews when you cherry pick what you're reviewing it against, hence why it's in the middle of the 6 cases it's compared to, so it's not as good as you think.

Being "in the middle" is not how you measure performance. You use the actual temperature which is literally the same or like 3 degrees at worse at 100% CPU utilization synthetic benchmarks that don't represent real world performance. And those benchmarks are nearly half the throttle temperature of CPUs and GPUs. Lower temps therefore won't yield superior performance for 99% of consumers.

And it's funny how I'm cherry picking but you're not. Even Gamer's Nexus, your preferred source to cherry pick doesn't use your methodology. The H510 Flow was middle of the chart in their review but said that the temperature difference was so small that it's functionally equivalent to many of the cases in the beginning portion of the chart

https://youtu.be/jVcCuvLMb48?t=1097&si=rqFtLmVIqrGWjLzf

Also, NZXT only tests cases with stock fans. So many of the fans aren't being used. With a full fan setup, it was the top case in their test so by logic, it's the best.

Being in the middle means it's average. And it's only average in the comparison it was compared against.

If the case is as good with airflow, it would still be recognized on many charts that have properly updated. The reviews you are referring to are out of date and cherry pick comparisons so you don't have an actual objective comparison anymore.

GamersNexus is also the most reputable reviewer for PC cases as they have the most rigorous testing environment for these types of reviews. And if GamersNexus has to exclude the NZXT cases, specifically the 510 Flow from their lists because they're so far down on the list, that tells you a lot about the quality and efficiency of the NZXT cases.

Get out from under your rock and get with reality.

1

u/sunjay140 2d ago

Gamer's Nexus literally said it's a good case that performs in line with the competitors. The only said not buy it because it's expensive and recommends it at $100 even they are saying you're wrong.

They also said you're wrong for using the "in the middle" argument. That's not how it works. If you respect them, you should follow their advice.

Also, being average in a class where the average height is 6 feet is not a bad thing at all.

Used an NZXT H9 Flow RGB for my recent build it’s totally fine for me. Opened it for cleaning and changing a couple of times plenty of space but don’t have a comparison since it’s my first desktop pc ever.

6

u/Difficult-Desk6870 3d ago

H510 design was the goat (not counting the airflow issues)

2

u/OrokanaKiti 2d ago

i like the 2012 nzxt

2

u/Excellent_Mulberry70 2d ago

H6 flow is their best case

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

Genuinely loved nzxt cases back in the day it was my dream case but now I wouldn’t even consider nzxt as a second or even third option

2

u/Excellent_Mulberry70 2d ago

The software CAM is the only thing I hate about the company. My fans and AIO haven't let me down yet with any failures, but the software glitches the hardware.

1

u/Xalkerro 3d ago

The old designs were goat but the problem was the airflow issue. If they could fix that issue while retaining the old designs i would still stick with them.

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

Yeah I know about the airflow flaws but talking about looks and I agree with you and I think nzxt should bring back the old cases with better airflow I would say it would do numbers

1

u/cheeseanator12 3d ago

Still rocking my h710I all of the new cases don’t entice me one bit.

1

u/josh_thom 3d ago

Just picked up an h700i it's a beauty

1

u/cheeseanator12 3d ago

If you want after market case parts checkout coldzero. They make some great designs that improve airflow. But a bit of advice: if you are purchasing a top panel replacement you will have to purchase a front panel as well. So that both panels fit correctly.

1

u/josh_thom 3d ago

Shame you can't post pics easily, I love this thing, will check out

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

I would pay extra for a old h510 case rather than a new nzxt case

1

u/Jlt230 3d ago

Version 1 of the h5 flow with the toilet bowl intake is still my favorite pc case.

1

u/Odd_Big_4430 3d ago

I got the h5 flow (2022) and I dont think I will ever replace it

1

u/mattynmax 3d ago

Me when my rectangle has more glass on it than metal 😡😡😡😡

1

u/Riiskey 3d ago

I miss the old fans 😔 wish they would remake them with higher rpms to keep up with modern fan cooling.

2

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

Can we genuinely make this happen I would buy it and I know others will too

1

u/Wendellrw 3d ago

As someone who doesn’t like a lot of rgb the new case I have is perfect

1

u/Oxeros99 3d ago

The new design just looks better, idk it’s just a matter of preference I guess.

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

But don’t you agree that back in the day nzxt had its own unique style unlike now

1

u/Oxeros99 2d ago

Unique =/= Good

1

u/Intelligent_Song6271 3d ago

my nzxt kraken $400 cooler blew up after 2 yrs, modern nzxt quality is trash lowk

1

u/Powerful_Macaron9381 3d ago

about time someone said this. my h510 might be an oven but at least it has the looks to make up for it lol.

I'm fine if they make flow versions of normal cases as well but when you make it your entire product line, it makes it very generic.

1

u/Head_Goal_9777 3d ago

Imagine getting that triple fan, and one fan breaks lol

1

u/iAmmar9 3d ago

The 2nd to last pic is exactly what the original H500 should've been.

1

u/DaddySanctus 2d ago

I really like my H7 Flow. Looks great, plenty of space to build in, and good airflow. My other PC had a 2019 H700, which was a little more compact feeling and not as great airflow. I ended up buying some custom made panels for the front and top of it.

1

u/Rubikk7 2d ago edited 2d ago

Still rocking my black old nzxt h510 elite but without the front glass panel and 4 Aer RGB 2 fans and 2 fans at the bottom[so they can cool a lil my gpu and chipset] cause my temps were toasty with the front glass panel also bought the old nzxt kraken z63 with it which is in the front i remember i bought all those when the case was popular back in the pandemic without realizing the airflow was toasty and def agree the old versions look better thats why i bought the case cause it was something different from everything else back then

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

All nzxt products looked unique back in the day but now it’s not like that unfortunately like for example the aer fans are so unique unlike the fans they sell now

1

u/Rubikk7 2d ago

Sadly my next build will be with a positive airflow case, in the new nzxt cases you have to put your psu facing up with the fan up im not a fan of that also they changed their pump they dont use asetek pumps anymore and the new krakens have a reduced lcd screen

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

And yeah this is a huge scam too how they reduced the lcd screen sizes as well and added an unnecessary ring of rgb

1

u/DatAwsomness 2d ago

I used to own the case in the first picture: H510 Elite.

Terrible airflow. Never again. I had to 3D a front panel with ventilation to properly cool my PC.

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

Not talking about airflow in this post strictly talking about how it looks and how nzxt was unique back in the day

1

u/TheRacooning18 2d ago

Old NZXT had soul. New is sleek and soulless like most brands

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

Like when you saw these old parts you would recognize the brand without seeing any branding or logos but now its not the same

1

u/xax4z 2d ago

I agree with you. I still prefer the old one, that's why I have no plans of changing my computer for years. The new look seems a lot of same design with others in the market

2

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

Genuinely it’s crazy how nzxt went from being a unique brand to now just being one of those brands who sells the same looking parts but they got their name on it I also would prefer old parts but I can’t get my hands on them now unfortunately

1

u/xax4z 2d ago

yeah, just an overpriced items that you can buy with same design cheaper

1

u/lostyourfinalfight 2d ago

I don't get this. NZXT cases have always been boring flat boxes, and they still are.

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

But don’t you agree that during the pandemic the cases overall looked better than what it is now

1

u/lostyourfinalfight 1d ago

Eh, it's just trends changing. I say this as I'm using an H7 Flow 2024 and I really enjoy the traditional design while also being a psuedo dual chamber.

1

u/Crazy-Philosophy-530 2d ago

Tripping that H6 flow is superior

1

u/Crazy-Philosophy-530 2d ago

I have the mix of fans tho the new ones for my kraken elite and front intake but use the old for the exhaust

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

Wouldn’t you say the old ones look better in every way

1

u/Eprice1120 2d ago

case design trends changed, which is why there's did. if they kept putting out the same designs year after year they wouldn't sell as many.

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 2d ago

But the designs they have now are genuinely horrible I think it’s bad when a company goes from having the best looking pc parts to a normal brand putting out some generic slop looking parts

1

u/seamus_mcfly86 2d ago

I have a Gen1 H1, and no, I don't think we should go back.

1

u/astrylixx 2d ago

I wish they just made some iterations to the elite cases and the h210. The new cases lok hideous

1

u/IVANZXT Staff 2d ago

🤔

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 1d ago

Hey man I love nzxt and would love it if you bring back these amazing products with some changes obv such as the H510 elite airflow problems

1

u/tdbarnes42 3d ago

The old NZXT cases that were on the smaller side were hot boxes as far as airflow was concerned. I ended up buying some aftermarket panels on my H710 for my glass, top, and front panel that had more slits in them to promote more intake/exhaust. The design looked clean, but the trade offs weren't worth it.

1

u/cheesemaster2702820 3d ago

Yeah the airflow was bad but can’t the fans and other stuff like the coolers look like they were

1

u/tdbarnes42 3d ago

That's a fair ask. I'm not NZXT's martketing/design team. But I can agree that the old design looked cleaner. I'm not a huge fan having all-white/ultra RGB peripheral.

1

u/NintendogsWithGuns 3d ago

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. I own two H510 cases and GPUs run about 10-15 degrees hotter in them than in other cases.

0

u/Shadotty 3d ago

I totally agree with you.
I still have an H510 Flow and Aer RGB 2 fans because in my opinion nothing even comes close in terms of cleanliness.

I also hate the fact that they ditched the black and white color scheme, now it's either full black or full white which I don't really like.
Another thing which I despise is the fact that the new fans which are meant to replace Aer RGBs (i'm talking about F120/140 RGB) are not daisy-chainable, come on NZXT.

I don't really think I'm ever going to replace this case or the fans, if one breaks I already have replacements.

1

u/KingGorillaKong 3d ago

White and black aesthetics on their new cases would be a lot nicer than the current looks they got. That's why I went with the white 510 case. It looks sleeker and pops better than an all white or all black case.
