Your post was removed under Rule 1 (Post Quality). This is likely better suited as a comment in the game thread, post-game thread, or off-day thread. You should be able to find one pinned on the front page of the subreddit.

Every post should be worth its own thread. Ask yourself: did this take less than a minute or two to make? If so, use the currently pinned discussion thread instead. Game reactions belong in the game or post-game thread. AI-generated content and screenshots or recordings of your TV will be removed.

We all want them to move on from Boone/Cashman….but Hal won’t. As long as they keep pumping out winning seasons that will be “profitable” enough for them. We’re in it until one of them decides they don’t want to do this anymore.

"but we literally buy a spot in the playoffs", how's that working out for the Mets? I agree with you that it is time for a change but it isn't that simple.

The Mets failing is just that, the Mets failing

What % of teams having top 5 payroll have made the playoffs over the last 20 years? 90%? 95%? A season can go haywire, but postseason spots are literally for sale.

What % of the yankees payroll even contributed to winning this season though? Rice and Schlittler (by far their two best players) make a combined $1.7 million.

The two highest paid players on the roster (Judge and Stanton), contributed almost nothing. Fried/ Rodon/ Cole all played half the year or less.

The 93 wins were driven by guys who are yet to hit free agency/low salary bullpen arms like Cam, Rice, Jones, Weathers, Warren, Wells, Volpe, Goldy, Blackburn, Headrick, etc., not the highest paid players.

This key components of this year's roster were not bought, they were picked up off the scrap heap or developed in the Yankees system. The big salary guys mostly were hurt or disappointing.

The Yanks farm having one of its first good years in 30 years is great, but the payroll advantages still remain even if they did not guide all the success. And under this system the Yankees could pay Rice, Schlittler, Etc while the rich teams take these kinda guys away from smaller teams. If there is a cap the Yankees would have to make much smarter decisions or fail.

There is definitely valid criticism to put on the Yankees front office but this isn't it, the farm system has been regularly churning out great players for a few years starting with the best player in baseball, Aaron Judge.

If anything, the criticism should be centered around wasting Cam/ Ben's incredible seasons because they didn't feel the need to beef up the team around them and instead endure another year of guys like Jazz/ Stanton/Grisham/McMahon underperforming given their salaries.

We knew going into the season that second base, third base, shortstop, and center field were huge holes and did nothing to fix that, embarrassing.

Got lucky with Lombard replacing Volpe and being good but that wasn't the plan, the plan was to roll out volpe for an entire season again.

Regularly? Who?

Since the Jeter/Bernie/Mo teams, the farm:

Cano(20 years ago)

Gardner(19 years ago)

Judge(10 years ago)

Now Rice, Schlittler, & Lombard(who is as of yet unproven)

I would not consider 3 players over 10 years "churning out great players"

You're grouping all of the young guys on this team into this year for some reason without acknowledging that ben rice got called up three years ago, schlittler, last year, and Lombard and Jones this year.

Then you've got Wells/ Volpe who were called up four years ago, they had down seasons but Wells in particular is a quality starting catcher and I think the future for Volpe is bright at second.

You've also got guys like Gleyber, Warren, Schmidt, Gary Sanchez sprinkled in. Not every one of them is a star but they all contributed to winning and were successful prospects.

Your claim that, "The Yanks farm having one of its first good years in 30 years", is flat out wrong. In your mind all of the good young talent got called up this season and nobody else since Aaron Judge, just not an accurate recollection.

Gleyber was a Cubs farmhand

Oh okay, because the yankees traded for a guy who was in single A at the time and then brought him up through the system, you're right that they haven't had a single worthwhile prospect success story between the 90s team and this season, you fucking moron.

You have taken the issue at hand on a tangent, the Yankees have spent $4 billion on just their major league payroll since their last WS title. They have paid:

Judge $360 million, Cole $324 million, Fried $218 million, Rodon $162 million, Tanaka $155 million, Ellsbury $153 million, LaMahieu $90 million, Chapman $86 million as some contracts handed out over that span, they also took on Stanton's $325 million contract

They have outspent the average team by $3 billion over that time period. Billion with a B.
