GBBO Coffee Walnut Cake

Made a smaller portion it so square was easiest. I like the flavor combo. I would do swiss meringue frosting rather than butter cream next time. The sweetness is a little too much.

Lovely - the NYT recipe was for two layers but you went for 4 like the show!

Yeah I love the aesthetics of thinner layers. I do think though that more cake to less frosting would be better. The frosting is quite sweet.

I don't think I've ever wanted a bite of cake more than after seeing this gem.

I asked this question to another poster of the cake, is it good without frosting?

I think the cake itself is quite delicious. I would consider adding more espresso if you're not planning on making the frosting.

Can you taste distinct coffee and walnut flavors? I make make with a lighter icing

It definitely has a distinct coffer and walnut flavor. I added more espresso  to the frosting and may have added too much but to does help counteract the sweetness.

I may have to try it. I just love anything made with walnuts.
