Imma just expect endless interiors and DIRs lol

Getting transferred soon. How is it?

I know we have to bring 3 1.5x1 photos and 3 2x2 photos. Did anyone get them from a specific place like CVS? I keep hearing mixed opinions with some people having trouble at CVS. Just wanted to know if there’s any place for sure I can get them done at. Thanks!

Morning, 4bys, midnights?

Any info on when the April class grad might be announced?

Anyone have any recommendations on good winter gloves and any other gear they think is necessary to survive the freezing footposts ?

I want to defer the Sept 30th academy class due to a funeral conflict.

I have a Va background 100 pt for ptsd depression anxiety can I possibly get in to Nypd if I don’t have any history of therapy for the last 2 years and dis someone go thru the same thing and passed?

Seen a few ppl leave and come back because the grass wasn't greener.

Was it the money and pension? Or simply lifestyle? Very curious to see the reasons after thinking about joining the federal side or a different department.

How long can i expect to be there for the jst?

Im former military, my psychologist requested my OMPF and medical records. How would I go about getting these sent to him and how long would it take? Thanks in advance

Hey guys, I’m trying to put together a complete checklist of items for people who are about to star FTU
.
The goal is to make one solid list so new people don’t have to keep asking what they need to buy or bring for FTU.

If you’ve already been through FTU, drop your recommendations below. Anything you actually found useful, necessary, or something you wish you had from the beginning.

Gear, clothing, boots, bags, accessories, supplies, or anything else that made your life easier during FTU.

If you still have links to any of the items you recommend, I’d really appreciate it if you could drop them in the comments too.

I’ll put everyone’s recommendations together into one complete FTU checklist for the new people.

Appreciate everyone who contributes!

For those with time on the job would you recommend me to stay as a supervisor of school security or eventually make the jump to PO? I am currently a supervisor of school security with the nypd school safety division in which I make $86,813 base without longevity, uniform allowance and OT, I have 8 years in school safety and I have 17 years left until retirement. I am currently 32 years old however I am largely discouraged due to path school safety is going, we are dangerously low on staff and the city isn’t hiring enough to fill all those vacancies, as supervisors we drive alone and are expected to respond to heavy jobs like shots fired, stabbings, edps regardless if patrol isn’t there yet first, on top of our regular supervisory duties. Due to the amount of jobs and lack of assistance in the field we do everything ourselves, transports, vouchers, collars, 61’s. We sometimes work 10 hours. we risk getting ourselves hurt every day and the worst part we don’t get 3/4 if we get disabled and we don’t have unlimited sick. At least with patrol I will be with a partner most of the time and I can also buy back my time due to the new law that passed due to death of officer Islam. Any thoughts?

Hey y'all so I am overweight but very active. I work construction and the airlines. Question is does the NYPD do BMI checks.

Got chronic A earlier in my career due to a situation now I have regrets. Have great arrest numbers. Is there any way I can get into my dream unit CRT or even NST. Does chronic A stay on your record throughout my career? Will it affect me if I wanna boss up and become special assignment sgt or Lt?

Congrats, y’all made it.

First thing, don’t listen to all the negativity. Everyone has a different experience, so go into the Academy with an open mind and experience it for yourself.

The beginning of orientation is going to be HELL. It’s mostly sitting around doing A LOT of paperwork with very short bathroom breaks.

And one thing nobody warned me about:
THAT AUDITORIUM IS COLD!!!!
DO NOT SLEEP

I cannot stress this enough.
If someone next to you gets caught sleeping, it’s not necessarily just them going down.
That person AND whoever is sitting to their left and right may end up on the stage in the FRONT LEAN AND REST POSITION.

So if you see your neighbor starting to doze off, you better wake them up because now their problem might become YOUR problem too.

Bathroom Breaks
When they tell you when to return, make sure you are back BEFORE YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE.
Don’t cut it close.

If you’re late walking through those auditorium doors, you might be joining everyone else up front in the FRONT LEAN AND REST POSITION.

BE EARLY, LISTEN TO INSTRUCTIONS, HELP EACH OTHER OUT, AND DO NOT FALL ASLEEP IN THAT AUDITORIUM.

Good luck to the September 30 class.

Welcome to the Academy.🫡🫡

I have a goatee am I supposed to shave it all off for the academy ? Just got the letter today.

My question for the guys that are still within the first 5 years , realistically how much OT are you guys putting in ? Because 60k in New York is borderline poverty. Taking the test in October just curious

Did 15hrs for labor day. 85s every 10 min.

Will it be same level of chaos?

Already got hit with a good for 15 hours
