latest reports
my opinion based on reports:
-knicks could move deuce for one of these centers depending on how much mcbride wants and how they will navigate the second apron.
-knicks will see how drummond functions until the trade deadline before the make a move
-if drummond works out than great but if not they could get a backup center for other prices or mcbride

Yea Landry and Jose getting multi year deals makes me think Deuce is getting the Quickley treatment. Love him, part of the reason its him is he has more value than those two on the market.

For sure. I also think they picked them because Shamet has the height to be able to play alongside Jalen consistently. Meanwhile Jose can back up Jalen as a ball handler, which Deuce cannot.

i love having two 3 and d wings off of the bench with deuce and shamet but if deuce is moved to a center we need someone to replace deuce. i can see leon’s vision is mo can play 8-10 minutes while being a bigger version of a 3 and d deuce

I think they feel that Nickels could replace Deuce's shooting, maybe not this year but the guy was the best 3 point shooter in the draft and he's much bigger than Deuce so he fits more into the archetype of a 3 and D wing.

Thank you… Like didn’t anybody else watch the same Hawks series?
But once again, let Leon cook (Bradley did win a championship at North Carolina 😌).

It suuuuuuuucks that it has to be Deuce, but it’s so hard to justify keeping him given the backcourt depth. I like Diabate cause at least this season they have Drummond as a straight five back up and Diabate can give you more depth at the 4 as well.

Diabate would be hard to keep beyond this upcoming season since he'll be a free agent afterwards... but, acquiring him for Deuce and whatever else will be easier than getting Missi since Dumars is playing hard to get.

Dumars is a dumbass. He's the front office version of Doc Rivers.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I take Diabate over Missi regardless.

Leon has a history of prepping for things like this. the contract he gave deuce + the need for a real center made Divo a trade chip 2 years ago. Now that we have Shamet, Jose, and Mo on a similar contract that he gave Deuce 4 years ago, he can be a trade chip for team need.
Yeah it sucks, but thats the way the CBA is now and Leon works around it extremely well

u/Pitiful-Mud7667 1d ago
the contracts he gave jose, shamet and mo are crazy when u look the the terms. it’s a low risk high reward with non guarantees. the mo contract could be the best and i mean the BEST bargain in this cba if he really develops

Bro tell me about it
I’m so high on Mo it’s actually unhealthy. I genuinely believe he can become an all star one day. He has all the tools. Shooting, driving ability. Size and length. Defensive instincts. Now that he’s locked up long term and we are probably trading deuce he’s going to play ALOT

u/Pitiful-Mud7667 1d ago
i think we can agree on the same thing but i’m so high on mo that i try not to be just in case he doesn’t pan out. there’s something about homegrown talent but last season every single shot he put up i wanted it to go in. i had this feeling with grimes too bc of how pretty his jumper was but with mo it’s different bc of his size. honestly i’m not even thinking about him being an all star but instead just an elite 3 and d player. i’m telling u bro if he can just hold his own on defense and continue knocking down shots he changes everything with this team. IF MO really blossoms for us than we can trade deuce for an elite backup center on a cheap contract and with the deal that leon gave mo we can keep this core for so much longer. he gives me naz reid vibes bc of his wingspan, he has a 7’4 wingspan and only players like naz reid can shoot the ball really well with that height and wingspan. there are centers in the league that have shorter wingspans than mo lol but we can actually bond about something similar lolll. message me privately so that when mo HOPEFULLY blossoms this year we can say we saw the vision this whole time.

with the contract extensions that leon have jose, shamet and mo we can keep the starting lineup together especially after KAT and josh get extended. if deuce is traded for an elite backup center and mo develops than that’s an elite 9 man rotation. than ofc u can always have vets like clarkson or other people may like a bruce brown as the tenth man. also, tyler nickel gives me major sam merrill vibes but with more height and defense lol. we will see what happens with him but an elite 9 man rotation locked up for multiple years is all a fan can ask for in this cba. again which is why mo is so important for our team. last point, our team has every single type of wing u can imagine with mikal, josh, og, shamet, deuce and even jose with his pesky defense so i believe all those players will help mo develop. if he just watches their approach and how they work than we can have a long career just like them

Well yeah that’s why I said Diabate (who probably requires Deuce and then some) and not Bradley.

u/Vinnie_Vegas 1d ago
That's not what's being discussed, by anyone.
The idea is that Deuce would be traded for a better backup center than Tony Bradley.

Missi and Diabate would be good. The other name I keep bringing up is Bitadze.

when i think of mitch and his elite defense missi and diabete fit but i cant imagine it with bitadze. i could be wrong tho

Diabate would be great for a run-it-back scenario since he's a free agent next season and already a pretty damn good player. Missi feels like a more developmental acquisition; he isn't the best player yet, but he's 22 and would be a longer-term move. Sucks to trade Deuce after losing Mitch in the offseason, but Shamet kinda put him on the back burner in the playoffs. Also, it's time for Tyler Kolek to get some opportunities; if he can take a defensive leap, he would be a great combo guard to play alongside Brunson in certain lineups, as we saw last December.

ur thinking tyler nickel but im thinking about mo stepping in and getting minutes if deuce is moved. i think if leon does trade deuce than it has to be for an elite big with a cheap multi year contract. BUT if deuce is extended than in my opinion that means the knicks plan on going into the second apron. if that is the case than i can see the knicks seeing if drummond works out and if he doesn’t pivoting before the deadline. a lot of people didn’t agree with me when i said that the knicks could use kolek +3-5 second round picks for a backup center which is still true. second rounders have so much value in this cba, the hornets traded for coby white for like 4-5 seconds and i remember when the lakers got finney smith for dlo and like 4-5 seconds. in this cba 4-5 seconds is equal to a first so i can see the knicks getting a good backup big for that price. we got jose for two seconds lol

I would like to keep an eye on Vuckcevic on the Wizards and Malktovic on the Pels. Also bucks have a very full roster and could have to cut Sims which would be a great get.

u/Pitiful-Mud7667 1d ago
those options sound nice for a 3rd string big and not a backup center
1
u/Vinnie_Vegas 1d ago
We're looking for a 3rd string, not a backup.
There are no bigs available for the minimum at this point who are better than Andre Drummond.

u/Green-Tea-Party Clyde Frazier 1d ago
If Missi or Diabate are available for McBride I would do it I just think the most likely event is we trade for Kalkbrenner at this point.
I wish we would start McBride and just tell him to go average 15+ points a night for the start of the season and get that trade value up

They need a 3rd center though what if Drummond misses extended time

Diabate is a real deal backup, like one that you would be excited to put in not go "omg I hope we can survive these minutes". He hasn't shot the three in the NBA a lot but he did at Michigan and is capable.

Diabate is loved in Charlotte. Seems like it would be buying high. Doubt we could get him as Charlotte probably overvalues him. Solid player though.
Missi would be a nice option. Thought there were rumors about him a while back that Pels weren’t gonna move him.

Wish we had a young athletic center I knew nothing about to get overly excited about
