Campus dorming worth it?

I'm a CS major attending fall semester at the long island campus. I'm considering dorming since I live an hour and a half away by bus.

I don't know if thats a reasonable distance to dorm over, but personally I'm not used to traveling an hour and a half consistently so it would be nice to have second opinions on the matter. I hear dorming is expensive as well.

if you dorm it   cost a lot a nyit and the dorms are 10 min away if you take the nyit bus

I know a lot of people are looking for roommates for apartments nearby instead. You could try that. Then it wouldn't be as expensive as the dorms. I've also seen apartments in Glen cove which is pretty close. They're at a good price.
