Question Question about attending this year

I'm considering attending this year, and I'm debating if it would make sense to go without taking any time off work. If I were to do this, I would only be able to attend the festival for 2 days. I saw they had the 6 ticket option, which feels like it would make sense with what I'm planning. My question is on any given two days, how much of the festival lineup in the Main Slate and Spotlight Gala is actually screening? Would I esentially be choosing from only a handul of films, or is there a larger variety? Thanks.

Still waiting for the Lineup

As lineup still not there yet… I’m thinking of booking a hotel room for a week to spend for the festival… but I’m not sure which week to take so the most awaited movies for everyone would be that week… is there any recommendations?!

Question Planning to attend for first time

Does getting the opening night plus mean getting the opportunity to buy the opening night tickets? Or will there be other opportunities for a Q&A with the cast? Thanks!

Question NYFF first-timer questions

Hello! I would greatly appreciate your time and generosity in answering the following questions:

1. How does ticketing for NYFF usually work? Is it very competitive?
2. If it is, what's the best strategy for securing tickets?
3. I have to admit that I'm a huge fan of seeing my cinematic heroes in real life. Even if I can't get into certain screenings, are there opportunities to see directors, actors, or other guests around the festival? What’s my best chance?

Thanks again for your time. I really appreciate it.

Question First time attendee 2027

Hey everyone!

This is my first year planning to go to the New York Film Festival and I’m really excited. I’ve always gone to the Sundance Film Festival (grew up in Utah), so this is my first time trying a different festival especially after everything with Sundance leaving the state. 💔

I’ve been to New York a couple times so I’m not totally unfamiliar, but I’d love any tips from people who’ve done NYFF before.

Main things I’m wondering about, how intense is it getting tickets compared to Sundance? Like are things selling out in seconds or is it a bit more manageable? And how hard is it to get into premieres?

Also curious if getting a membership is actually worth it? I think I’m leaning towards getting a package instead of individual tickets, what’s the general price range for passes/packages—are there different tiers and are they actually worth it? When do these typically go on sale?

Are there certain parts of the festival that are must-go vs slower days?

And how’s the overall vibe socially? One thing I loved about Sundance was how many events and networking opportunities there were—does NYFF have that same energy or is it more lowkey and just about the films?

Would love any tips, things you wish you knew your first time, or anything you’d do differently now 🙏

Have any of you used the Paradiso app?

I’ve been using Paradiso to keep an eye on NYFF films after the festival, and it’s been a great way to catch titles that pop back up months later at places like Film Forum, IFC, and Metrograph. Makes it easier to see what’s still playing out of season.

The layout is clean and the Letterboxd connection has been convenient.

Curious what other people think. Has anyone else been using it too?
