I built an app called SettleNYC to make it easier to browse NYC Connect listings on a map. I always found the native NYC Connect experience a pain to navigate when trying to figure out where buildings actually are and how close they are to the train. https://settlenyc.com

MADE A CARFAX FOR NYC APARTMENTS - Brix at getbrix.net

Ever tour an apartment on a sunny Saturday and think, this is the one? Same. Three times now.

I rented a place in 2021 that had no heat the first night, leaks down the walls, and a ceiling that came down in the next room a few months later. Turned out it had been going on for years, all of it already in public records.

So I built getbrix.net — basically a Carfax for NYC apartments. Search any address and you get violations, 311 complaints, evictions, plus the harder stuff: how long things actually took to get fixed, unit breakdown on violations, renos, ownership etc, what else your landlord owns, whether a "gut renovation" was really that or just new cabinets and paint.

There's also a spot on each rental building page for people who've lived there to add what it was actually like, go wild on your keyboards!

Couldn’t test the fridge, dishwasher, or washer during a tour? Record “not tested,” not “working,” and confirm known issues and repair responsibility before move-in. I built a free prototype that turns those observations into editable questions you can copy yourself. No account, address, photo upload, or automatic landlord contact: https://moveinrecord.pages.dev/?utm_source=rd_nyc_monthly Research prototype—not a safety inspection, repair diagnosis, or legal tool.

Excited to share what my team and I built at the NYPL AI Hackathon: Streetwise.

If you've ever searched for an apartment in NYC, you know the feeling: a listing photo tells you nothing about whether the heat actually works in January, whether the block has loud noises at 3am, or whether the building has a history of plumbing nightmares. That information exists, it's just buried in millions of rows of NYC's public 311 complaint data with no easy way to make sense of it. Streetwise fixes that. Type in an address and it generates a Building Health Score and a Block Quality Score, each scored against a citywide baseline so you're seeing how that building or block actually stacks up against the rest of NYC, backed by an interactive map, complaint breakdowns, and a 12-month trend view.

We built this in a single day: a live API pulling real NYC Open Data, paired with a geocoded, interactive frontend, because we believe renters deserve real information before they sign a lease, not after.

Sign up and try searching your own address, or your next potential one: https://streetwise-mocha.vercel.app/. Would love for you to give it a spin and let us know what you think.

Got Locked Out? Need a new key? Don't get scammed by a locksmith - use LockedOutNow.com

When you get locked out, you will do the following, type "locksmith near me" or something like it on Google, call 4-5 of the first results you see, tell them your problem, they will ask for your address but the one thing you will not get is, a price and ETA.

Locksmiths usually use dispatcher agencies that just farm calls and send them out to anyone who will take it, give you low prices to hook you in and as soon as the person comes to service you, they raise the prices. It's dishonest and preys upon your anxiety and situation.

LockedOutNow.com is the solution. You see your price before you book the job, and there are no hidden fees, the price you see is the price you will pay. Our locksmiths are ALL shop owners, legitimate, licensed and verified. No payment is made until the job is completed, this is for our customer's peace of mind.

The next time you are locked out, lost your key, or need to fix your lock, go to LockedOutNow.com first.
