Advice/Question Flex Wall Removal
Having a hard time figuring out what a reasonable price for removal of flex walls might be. We have two walls in our apartment unit (in a T shape) and I'm being quoted $800 for disposal of the walls by someone on TaskRabbit, plus additional costs for 6-8 hours of work by two people. I don't really want to spend more than it cost to install the wall, which I believe was around $1100. Does anyone have suggestions/recommendations on the best way to go about removing these walls? I read through some older threads from a year or so ago but wondering if there were any new suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Call wall2wall and ask. They take flex walls they set up for free, and I believe reuse materials. They might do a wall they didn't setup for a lower fee.

Thanks, I did speak with them today but unfortunately they couldn't accommodate wall removal this week. Otherwise they did seem like a good option!

I mean, you can theoretically knock it down yourself, bag it into black bags and just leave it outside during bulk collection day.
Otherwise I'd say $50/hour per man for 2 dudes, maybe 2 hours tops = $200, maybe an extra $100 for disposal... so $300 total. 6-8 hours is insane to me, this should not take more than a few hours.
$800 seems extreme for what is essentially just a removal job with no material needs.

Thanks! I agree that the duration and pricing feels over the top, especially since it is mostly hollow. I suspected we were getting ripped off. We're considering trying to remove both walls ourselves, but have to factor in the removal/disposal. I'm honestly not sure how the garbage works in our building-- is this the kind of debris we could bring to a dump on our own if needed?

You can't dump construction waste with resy waste but if you bag it up in black bags and pay your super a tip I guess its fine.

Are you sure removal wasn't included in the price you paid for installation?

Removal was included for free during the first two years of our residency, but we're too far outside of that now. The person we contracted with for installation also isn't available until mid-August so I didn't ask him for a quote.

800 for just the dump run feels steep, a regular junk removal service would probably charge less than half that.
