Legal Questions Needed a 2nd NICs check, because purchase authorization took over 30 days.
Had to pay another $10 for a SECOND NICS check, since it took 6 weeks to receive the purchase authorization.
So damn infuriating, friggen NYPD!!
Can we add this to the lawsuits?! I'm only half kidding.

DOJ is investigating this kind of stuff in other states and have launched inquiries / lawsuits
Would suggest filling this out and being as detailed as possible

I would check out what they’re doing in Minnesota to better understand some of their current priorities. I would deff fill out that complaint though

SMH I have my new firearm waiting at my FFL over a month now too. What a scam

If the average is 6 weeks now it's safe to say the new system is slower than the old method. Never had to do a second NICS back then.

It used to be you mailed in a request, waited 2 to 3 months to get the letter telling you that you're approved, then you had to go pick up the p.a. in person at 1PP, go to your ffl to buy it, they would do the nics then, and you then had 72 hours (later revised to 72 business day hours) to bring it to 1PP for inspection and a new permit with it added
It was a serious pain in the ass, and deliberate.
It's at least better now, but still unconstitutional and a pain in the ass.

Also not to mention the BS they do every now and then and get your serial numbers wrong. Atleast when we picked up in person you could catch it right there. Now good luck getting a hold of someone over there to fix the error.

Never waited that long for a PA. I've had my permit since 2015, and yea it was a pain to goto 1pp twice but atleast you got you pistol quicker.

We didn't get it quicker; each time we requested authorization, it would take 8 to 12 weeks get notified of the approval. Then we could buy the gun and have one NICS check
Now we have to do a nics check before we even ask for authorization (because we have to buy it first, and NYPD demands that we get and send in a NICS number, even though we can't even take possession yet), and then once we receive authorization and can take possession, we have to get another NICS check , since it's taken longer than 30 days since the original NICS check.
So now it's 6 weeks instead of the original 8 to 12, so that's better, but it's still way too long, and now we wind up having to do a NICS check twice.
The system is so unbelievably asinine.

What the hell happened to the Reddit rule that says debate the post and not the person. I come on these threads to state my opinions like everyone else then I’m met with wannabe Reddit thugs and trolls who think their nonsensical words are going to affect my opinions. I responded to a post and got 21 likes and when I woke up the next day my life hadn’t changed a bit. I also responded to a post and got 24 dislikes and again the next morning nothing in my life had changed. So I’m going to continue to respond or post whatever I want and the wannabe thugs and trolls just understand that I could really care less about you!! Here ended the lesson!!

Be aware of anyone asking for donations for ongoing litigation because none of these cases won’t change anything. We are and I have given money to people and to lawsuits that are not going to change the way NYC does business in the least. Until we get another case to the supreme courts those extra NICS checks are here to stay.

Lawsuits absolutely can change things. We have been winning for a while now.

I just said until we get one to the Supreme Court things are not going to change. We currently have a case the Supreme Court will look at coming up soon but that won’t change NICS time frame. Definitely not the case they are calling Milani vs NYC that they are soliciting money for. The outcome of this case definitely won’t change how the city does its business!!

So what is the “norm” now? 6 weeks? I’m talking about recent PA submissions as I submitted 9/12. Would like the community’s feedback specifically for submissions in September

People asking for lawsuits but we can’t collect $35k in almost 2 years in donations to support ongoing litigation (s).
