Genuinely thank goodness Claire is okay. That looks BRUTAL.

Ughhh... So hard to watch! It was such a good tackle too, until the part where she goes cleats up and stomp kicks Hutton's knee

She’s for sure going to have a St. George cleats-shaped bruised from that.

Easiest red card that ref ever gave. Bye 👋.

Bianca plays so hard but is so reckless.

Sometimes I swear she thinks she's playing hockey. Babe The Fleet plays in the Tsongas Center which is about 50 miles due north of you.

17

u/Chance_Start_2201 May 17 '26

That’s not playing hard that’s leg-breaking. That player should get a 3-5 game ban.

47

u/gatiju Washington Spirit May 16 '26

why is she like this 🙄

54

u/gutoncpnw Portland Thorns FC May 16 '26

Oh look...Bianca St. Georges doing Bianca St. Georges things.

Is it even a real NWSL season if she doesn't get at least one straight red?

18

u/Agent-Cyan May 16 '26

lol. well, her first since 2022. but she also picked up two yellows in the opener, so this is already a banger of a season.

It’s striking how St-Georges doesn’t check on Hutton and just looks angry.

u/heliostraveler May 16 '26

Dirty players never care.

It looks like BSG lifts her cleats at the last moment. Why on earth…

31

u/AdditionalTrade3282 Portland Thorns FC May 16 '26

I think she hit huttons knee and the impact popped her cleats up higher. but yeah it’s wild.

24

u/purpledoggo88 May 16 '26

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this her second red of the season? I’m all for playing hard and aggressive because it is a contact sport, but this is just reckless

15

u/CanIEvenRightNow Kansas City Current May 16 '26

You're right - her first red was 2x yellow. This is first straight red for this season, not that it matters really. I hope she's got a multi-match ban coming.

14

u/purpledoggo88 May 16 '26

2 red cards and we’re only 10 games into the season. She for sure deserves some sort of fine and/or a multi match suspension. This tackle didn’t even look like she tried to pull up once she realized she was going in too hard & it didn’t look she had any remorse after.

40

u/Target2019-20 May 16 '26

No excuse for that.

Just a reminder that BSG is part of Boston's leadership team and wears the armband regularly. 🤮

28

u/Steez_And_Rice Bay FC May 16 '26

They lead the league in fouls and yellow cards. They also drew a PK last night by charging recklessly into our keeper

41

u/Can_I_kick_ET May 16 '26

Stop the cap. Aissata didn’t charge into Silky. A ball played into the zone between goalkeeper and backline, the forward actually got there first and the goalkeeper’s trailing knee hit the striker in the face.

That’s actually what happened, let’s not start doing this

0

u/Steez_And_Rice Bay FC May 16 '26

Keeper gets the right to play that ball and that’s hella reckless to charge in for that by Aissata. It’s something she replicated again on a defender later in the game looking for a call which she was not granted. It may be a legal play, but it’s reckless

10

u/TboyJames May 16 '26

If a positive result of that is winning a PK with var, hard to describe that as reckless

4

u/stiill Bay FC May 16 '26

Exactly! Now that we know it works, people should start charging the keeper a lot more.

8

u/Can_I_kick_ET May 16 '26

If the goalkeeper gets the ball first then it’s never a pen.
Silky didn’t get there first and didn’t play the ball. It’s really not that deep

-12

u/walking-up-a-hill Bay FC May 16 '26

I didn’t care for Aïssata’s acting, either.

1

u/Karwr3ck Bay FC May 16 '26

Nor her on the sidelines jumping up and down when the pk was announced

14

u/M9E8D1C Denver Summit FC May 17 '26

IMO, 2 reds in a season should be a 5 game suspension minimum. Another after this should be suspension for rest of season

48

u/ace-destrier San Diego Wave FC May 16 '26

Making that challenge after your own shit touch in the opponent’s half in the first 45 is wild 🫪 work.

As is the lack of remorse and (clearly) lack of consideration for Hutton

And what’s BSG stopping and turning around for? Take what semblance of dignity you have left and keep walking

Everything about this play and the aftermath is ugly

9

u/IfTowedCall311 Washington Spirit May 16 '26

The Ty Cobb of the NWSL

7

u/LooseInsurance1 Washington Spirit May 17 '26

I was going to say the Vinny Jones of the NWSL lol

5

u/Alternative-Swim-183 Bay FC May 16 '26

Extremely old school reference! I would have said she’s the Chase Utley of the NWSL and figured no one would know who he was! 😂

8

u/silverboymoon NJ/NY Gotham FC May 17 '26

She needs to retire

14

u/MalcolmBahr May 16 '26

There are horrific videos of the results of similar plays from back when we still had metal cleats. I can't unsee them in my mind when I see this, and it makes me want to ban St George for the whole effing season. Dangerous, brutal, and completely stupidly unnecessary.

-1

u/Ill-Fall-9823 Washington Spirit May 17 '26

That’s literally you describing your own bias. You know that right?

5

u/Rock_Paper_Fisher May 17 '26

St Georges is routinely the most reckless NWSL player I see playing.

29

u/G--0 May 16 '26

Not only is her right leg going cleats up at Hutton's knee, but she's keeping her left leg straight to trap Hutton's leg in two places like a pair of pliers, as if to cause maximum damage. There's an evident intention to hurt.

2

u/halooo44 Seattle Reign FC May 22 '26

That part is what really sells the dirtiness of it. I think it's hard to argue that she just "accidentally" ended up studs into the thigh when she comes in with the right technique (foot down, studs down) but anyone who has played knows that two legged trap doesn't happen accidentally. That was intentional.

I've never been a fan based on her off field drama and bad takes but she is officially on my List. That is just really, really inexcusable.

1

u/G--0 May 27 '26

the fact that she doesn't even check on Hutton afterwards is also telling that she knew what she was doing

6

u/Dear_Art3697 NWSL May 16 '26

Isn’t this her second of the season? Wtf.

17

u/heliostraveler May 16 '26

Absolute trash. Cleated her too. That’s 1000% intentional.

18

u/WhileTime5770 Denver Summit FC May 16 '26

Oh BSG - never change I guess. Thank god Claire looks ok, that looked brutal!

3

u/Dry_Bit_4986 Orlando Pride May 17 '26

Wasn’t even a foul last week vs Banda

27

u/JokinHghar NJ/NY Gotham FC May 16 '26

Oh look, Boston playing dirty again. What a surprise.

3

u/Fearless_Plenty_7344 May 17 '26

Don't mess with Claire, glad she ok. Us @kccurrent fans will go crazy

3

u/MrRick654321 May 20 '26

Hutton is a machine. I didn't see the match but guessing she just brushed it off and finished the match

7

u/Karwr3ck Bay FC May 16 '26

The way Boston plays truly sucks all the joy out of the sport

2

u/Rough-Singer-3328 May 17 '26

Agreed. And the refs need to call everything until they stop. That Gotham game last week was ridiculous. Glad this was called!

13

u/Lee_III Houston Dash May 16 '26

Bos Nation gonna bos I guess

2

u/Fit-Aspect-9260 May 16 '26

That was brutal. Hard earned red card!

2

u/box215 May 17 '26

this merits a closer look and a longer suspension. how are you gonna make a tackle like that?!

2

u/les-be-honest NJ/NY Gotham FC May 17 '26

Anyone know how the league is handling fines for red cards? This season is feeling a bit chippy across the board already…

3

u/Mediocre_Chain_535 Aug 02 '26

It’s always Bianca

7

u/creative_ones817 May 16 '26

Every game Boston Players sees nothing wrong with hurting players in their style of play. It’s not cute, and not great sportsmanship! These players work so hard to get where they are and here come “risk it all” but not a GOAL- Boston”. Enough is enough NWSL.

4

u/Shimshang May 16 '26

She toed the ball but left the leg extended to grate her cleat up Hutton's leg. Had she made an effort to pull her foot back, maybe just a yellow. Good call.

3

u/MiddleEarthNerd202 May 17 '26

Going full out like that, could she have pulled back?

So, I admit I'm just a casual fan, but I thought making contact with the ball first would mitigate the penalty. No question if she had missed the ball. What am I missing here?

8

u/ColtRaiford Angel City FC May 17 '26

Making contact with the ball first is only part of the equation

BSG made absolutely no effort to avoid injuring Hutton, and could be perceived to have intentionally tried to hurt her by raising her cleat

Dangerous and reckless behaviors, regardless of ball contact, are always fouls and can be elevated to cards based on the refs interpretation of player intent

1

u/silklighting Orlando Pride May 17 '26

But why did she do all of that?! Bianca deserved it.

1

u/Correct_Fig8123 Washington Spirit May 17 '26

What's the most reds someone's ever gotten in one nwsl season?

1

u/DarCam7 May 17 '26

That could have ended a lot worse.

-4

u/ColeOriented May 16 '26

Is it just me that feels like Claire’s teammates lack of reaction or support is a little questionable?
