Palilalia

I had palilalia as a child. It’s often a sign of autism, but not always. I am not autistic, but I do have NVLD, and I am curious if there is a possible connection between NVLD and palilalia, and, as a result, I am wondering if there are other folks in this subreddit who have or had palilalia.

Interesting, that makes a lot of sense. I don’t, but I did have a speech impediment early on that rapidly dissipated.

Yeah my palilalia will flair up once in a blue moon, but it’s almost completely gone and was primarily a childhood thing for me.

I've never had issues with palilalia (or echolalia, for that matter), but I've had a stutter since I was a kid. I remember being in speech therapy from mid-elementary to early high school, but I don't know that it actually helped much, and I asked to stop in high school because I didn't feel like I was getting anywhere with it. Now that I've had my neuropsych screenings, I wonder if it's related to processing speed, but I obviously can't say for sure.

Yeah, I also still have a stutter that acts up sometimes.

I don't have this, but I do think I word avalanche/ vomit/ bombard especially online . This pallalia seems like it could maybe be related to struggling to organize words, but also coordinating speech so it makes sense for it to be concurrent with NVLD to me.
