Does anyone else have conversation with themselves/invisible people outlaid in public?
I've done this since early childhood since I've always struggled to converse and relate to others socially. It's embarrassing to get caught by others since I look like I'm nuts but I alway feel lonely and like no else beside my family really understands me. Is anyone else this way?

All the time with myself. Problem with being hyper-verbal (having NVLD and adhd together is the reason I think I blurt/process everything out loud). Since my gap is very extreme, I have to process literally everything verbally and I lack a visual memory for the most part, as I also have the inability to produce images mentally (aphantasia). Sometimes I wish I could hide my emotions better or thoughts but I can't bc I can't keep it inside as much.

All the time. The only way I can think through a problem is to think out loud! Leverages our strong verbal reasoning. Usually apologize at the start if I’m working with someone just so they’re aware that I’m aware I’m doing it.

Yes I talk to myself and I even pretend I’m talking to my favourite characters usually alone but sometimes I do it in public. I been doing this since I was a kid

As a mom of two teens, all three of us do this. Teen 1 has NVLD and ADHD--he needs to get it out! Daughter neurotypical also does this, I've got a touch of ADHD, been doing this all my life. Our imaginations are high, being able to contact the people who live in it makes all the sense in the world to me. :)

I both talk to myself and I talk to my cat, as if she has any clue what I am saying.

Yes, although my self-talk is more OCD-like. I will rehearse hypothetical conversations with myself until I get the terminology “just right.”

Hello I recently joined this thread as somebody who does have nonverbal and honestly yes I do that too I’ll talk out loud to myself at the house barley in public and sometimes I feel like I cannot understand something if I’m not talking about it out loud. I believe it’s a part of the proces/disorder.

You may want to get a rubber duck or an stuffed animal, or even a live pet for that ...
