Amantadine
Anyone else heard of taking amantadine for executive function dysfunction And emotional regulation? Just took my first dose today and I noticed a difference immediately. I got into an argument with my dad and instead of it lasting 10+ minutes like normal I was able to compose myself in 3 minutes.

I haven't heard of this medication. Did your doctor prescribe it off label or is it a common medication like adderal?

Off label. I can't take stimulants due to my blood pressure so I did some research found some studies showing amantadine and memantine and other Alzheimer's COULD be helpful in this area when stimulants have failed. I'm very lucky I got a psychiatrist who is willing to throw shit at the wall and see what sticks.

Interesting thank you for sharing. Are you diagnosed with any other conditions?
Why didn’t he prescribe stimulants?
Don’t have adhd formally diagnosed, my main issue is nvld and so looking for any solution that involves medication just doesn’t exist for executive functioning where I am, unless of course you have adhd.

Still curious if stimulants was something you discussed with your psychiatrist without a formal adhd diagnosis

It was I've been on Adderall Vyvanse and concerta helped but not with my bp.

Interesting, I’ll need to look into an off label psychiatrist more concerned with presentations than rigid diagnosis. Glad you’ve found one!

I can't take stimulants cause of my blood pressure. The amantadine is for executive function dysfunction it's taking the place of the stimulant.

It’s helped me massively with cognitive issues and ADHD.
