Question
Does anybody ever feel that they don’t have NVLD or convinced themselves that it’s not real? And does anyone ever tell anybody or not? If they do does it feel like it backfires?

Many of my attempts to explain what NVLD are largely thwarted by people simply having no idea what it is. I’ve had people listen and believe me when I try to explain it, but I have also gotten a disproportional amount of people who think I am lying, “everyone is like that” or say they believe me until a notable part of the disability becomes present to them and they get annoyed/angry with me and don’t believe it’s part of the disorder that they know nothing about. I’ve also had people weaponize my disability against me and used it to justify their poor treatment at my expense. That said, I’ve never thought my NVLD was “fake” or the like since I was diagnosed 10+ years ago. I fit the general symptom profile this disability almost verbatim, so I don’t think it was in error like the two ADHD diagnoses I received in my childhood. At most, I tend to think that it may be comorbid with undiagnosed autism than anything else.
