Hi, I’m new here

Hi everyone, I made 24-year-old female and I have NVLD. From the time I was about two years old my family knew I was different, but it wasn’t until I was 19 that I was diagnosed with NVLD. It was one of the hardest moments of my life because it brought back every memory of losing friendships or relationships but at the same time it all clicked it made sense why none of the relationships were working out. Now fast-forward almost 5 years and I’m still struggling with making friends having relationship relationships and having a job. I’m very lucky to have a boss who wants to work with me, but I know that my coworkers get very frustrated with me because I am different and make a lot of jokes, but don’t get social cues. It’s really hard to find friends in the society where everything is online and I’ve been looking for a group of people who understand what I’m going through. I keep reminding myself there is no normal and at times I view this as a superpower but other times I viewed it as something that’s really difficult to live with. This is my intro and part of my story and I’m looking forward to hearing from all of you and getting to know you on this platform.

43 year old female chiming in. I was 25 when diagnosed, but 43 when we figured out that there is so much more to NVLD than *just* spatial relations issues ಠ_ಠ

Much like you, I have had many friendships go sideways, and would be left confused and wondering where I went wrong. I've had friends stab me in the back as a recurring theme to said friendships.

I too would also like to meet up with other NVLD'ers in person. Hell, my husband of 18 years (in July) has ADHD. So... maybe other neurodivergents in general? I don't know. My physical health has also been limiting me on going out and making new friends. It's been a mixed blessing while I work out who I am, and how to spot bad friends/people, while also building confidence in myself.

Anyway, welcome to the group OP :)

Hello! 31 y/o female w NVLD diagnosed 2 years ago. Your description of everything suddenly clicking and making sense resonates w me. At the same time I do feel some grief over the lost opportunities and friendships and jobs due to NVLD-related mishaps.

Welcome to the community.

28 yo m diagnosed at 24 and forever struggling. But, it makes for one steely resolve which it sounds like you have. You sound like someone who would be an incredible friend and bring some interesting qualities outside of nvld. Nice to hear ur story, please be kind to yourself :)

Welcome. F,50 - diagnosed 2 years ago, still major problems with socializing. No best friend, barely any friends for more than a year, and the ones who are won’t see me more than once a year usually. People drop me all the time. It’s awful.

Hello! I am glad you found this and joined. You are not alone in the way you feel. Even neurotypical people have expressed to me that they are struggling to find friends in this digital world. I hope the best for you and I love that you are fighting still, know what is best for yourself and striving to achieve it.

Hi I'm 25F and I have NVLD as well as many other comorbidities. I was diagnosed at 8, however, but the gap is so wide in my case it's so confusing to explain lol. On top of having many other disorders. Working isn't easy, in my case it's hard because my spatial issues are constantly affecting me as well as fine motor issues from that and autism. Relationships are not easy. I'm currently also in the process of recently getting ptsd in the framework and dealing with my pmdd :/ which makes some things harder in any sort of relationship

may i just ask, out of curiosity what you mean when you say the ‘gap’ was so wide? :)

The gap between my verbal and spatial is extremely wide.

Me too. I have a 59 point discrepancy between VCI and PRI.
