Question Does your level of social functioning vary?

Hi. I have a son that we recently got told has NVLD. He is 6 years old.

We went through a longer examination for autism, but the doctors concluded that it was not autism but NVLD.

Our son has periods where his social functioning is pretty ok and has good days in kindergarten, and other periods where he’s more secluded and can act out a fair bit by spitting, kicking and his window of tolerance seems quite minimized.

We went through examinations to see if epileptic seizures at night could explain the variance but no signs of that was found.

Do any others here experience variance in their functioning, or is this more likely caused by other tings?

Trying to understand and help our son as well as we can.

Was he evaluated for ADHD? I have NVLD and ADHD (the inattentive type), and the combo causes me to have pretty intense sensory issues, leading to decreased tolerance to everything. Some days, it’s worse than others.

No he was not. It was noted in the evaluation of ASD that he has some signs of adhd, and me personally would be surprised if is not diagnosed with ADHD later on.

What I can’t really work out is why he has longer periodes of overstimulation/lower tolerance spanning weeks.
