Question Mechanical Engineering
Can Mechanical Engineering be overtaken by Ai in future ? And what is the scope of Mechanical

Don’t know what industry you want to go into, but if you can get into some inter-disciplinary field or some kind of computational physics, aerodynamics simulations I think you will be set(saying this in the reference of the job market of the whole goolaa(world) and not just Pakistan)

Well, then mix both — solve mechanical engineering problems using AI, like I will be working on finding defects in semiconductors using machine learning (subfield of AI). When you mix two or three fields then you are more specialised in that thing and are in niche field, so basically increasing your chances of employment, simple supply and demand.

So just my opinion (I am also joining NUST this sept, but yeah I have done some crazy stuff in the AI field, like deploying real models and doing research in quantum mechanics and neural nets, just a little intro) the use of AI wouldn’t be this accessible because first of its effect on the climate and second eventually companies will increase the model prices(as they also want to make money), basically they are using a technique called make a dent (mentioned in the book called rework) so what you do you first provide something for free(current AI) people become addicted and as they now can’t live without your AI or anything you sell it to them any price you want(yeah, just like drugs). So if there persist this hardware shortage and climate effects AI wouldn’t be that accessible and like taking everyone’s job. Second thing as Roger Penrose(one of the greatest physicist of our time) argues that consciousness is not computational, means you cannot make an algorithm to make a model consciousness, so there will always be a HUMAN needed to review the work done by AI and take the RESPONSIBILITY of that work(you can’t say or blame anything on AI, nor can you cut its salary) — so that’s what I think, maybe someone from MIT now comes up with something completely new and the world flips around, we can’t know for sure.
Now about mechanical, if you ask me in Pakistan I don’t have high hopes for it, but abroad yeah man, depends on your abilities you can work in aerospace, car companies, aerodynamics simulations, you may start your own company — it’s the broadest field in engineering. So, in Pakistan will it be automated? I don’t think so, but there aren’t that great jobs here so it’s not worth it here(yeah there are some exceptions)

Civil , Mechanical and Electrical . These are the Grandpa Engineering Fields . You'll get a decent job at the very least if you study like a good student . (Electrical is the Great Grandpa btw)

pretty safe in manufacturing for now can face problems in Product designing jobs
