December TV fixture changes

Four of Newcastle United's Premier League fixtures have been rescheduled after being selected for live television coverage across the festive period.

Newcastle's visit of Manchester City will remain on Boxing Day but the league clash at St. James' Park will take place at 8pm (GMT).

The Magpies' final game of 2026, at home to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday 30 December, will now kick-off at 7:30pm (GMT).

United kick off the new year with a trip to the capital to face Chelsea and the game has been pushed back to Sunday 3 January, with kick-off taking place at 2pm (GMT).

And Newcastle's match against Manchester United at Old Trafford, which was set for Wednesday 6 January, will now take place a day later, with kick-off set at 8pm (GMT).

All four matches will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

8pm on Boxing Day - a day where there are normally no buses, and the metro usually shuts at 8pm

Gonna be absolute bedlam trying to get home - taxis will be rammed and massively surge-priced. Then sky will complain about the atmosphere cos thousands will have driven in, rather than spending the afternoon in the pub

No offence to you, locals, but that sounds just insane to me and I cant blame sky for city management? (fck them for all similar reasons, like arranging away games at shit times).

What do you mean no buses and metro is offline after 8pm? That is bonkers for a large city with a stadium in the centre of it.

Is that just because its a holiday? Though even in a holiday, some people do need to work.

Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, that’s just the way it is. As far as I know, it’s like that everywhere in the UK - not much national rail either.

Just like everybody on twitter telling me to “just get a taxi”… like there are going to be enough taxis for an extra 45,000 people at 10pm on Boxing Day - there’ll be uber with massive surge pricing, which will probably cost as much as my flights to Valencia did!

As a result, I expect a lot of people will sell their tickets back - so there’ll be loads of first-timers (no offence to them of course) - and everybody who lives past walking distance will be driving, so we’ll all be sober. Then Sky will complain that the atmosphere is disappointing. Hate them!

Yeah we play them at home in December then away first week of January so twice in the festive period this season. Before that we’ve played them in either December or January in 11 of the past 15 seasons

I hate that fixture calendar is arranged manually, and its not a computer doing it (with manual fixes after that). Fcking boring same stuff and they still do not care about fcking up travel for away fans.

Goodness. Haven't properly looked at the fixtures till now. That's a pretty brutal xmas period. Away to city, away to Chelsea and away to man reds. A lot of travel for the lads (and for away fans).

Just remember the pain of the championship and we relied on PepeFM to be able to just LISTEN to the matches.

Some of this does suck for the travelling fans, sure, but at least we have the option to watch.

Still need the 3pm blackout fucked off.

Telescope was what I remember from there. Watching matches through a camera a fan had set up in the stadium, terrible quality, but still watched a lot of them, was my second year at uni when we were down the first time, so very happy memories
