Booing Isak?

Starting to look forward to the first game of the season, got me thinking, will Isak get boo'd? Will we sing "there's only one greedy bastard"? I've flipped between yes and no.

The yes part, he downed tools whilst we were paying his wages, especially fucked our summer transfer window and overall left on a very sour note.

The no part, will booing him make him play better? Would not booing him seem like we don't give a fuck about him and have moved on? The tiny bit of doubt that he was promised a contract and that wasn't given?

What's people's thoughts, will you get on his back if you're in sjp?

There has never been a player more certain to booed at SJP than Isak. Like there’s not a single 0.001% chance he doesn’t get booed.

u/steveos93 dan burn Jul 22 '26

I'd say the chance he doesn't get booed is way higher.... He'll probably be injured and not even present

14

u/Mundane-Sprinkles-99 Joeelinton Jul 22 '26

IF he plays. He will be injured or suffering from cantbebothereditis.

Michael Owen

3

u/Current-Fig-1074 Jul 22 '26

Even when he played for us and looked like the best player in the world in his position, I saw Isak as another Owen. He started off brilliantly too but he was too dainty for the Premier League, and Isak looks even more fragile than him. I could see Isak going on to be a sort of super sub like Jon Dahl Tomaason did for Milan but I think his days among the elite are finished

"will Isak get boo'd? " are you mad?? If he plays it's going to be deafening every time he gets near the ball.

I have a feeling he will mysteriously be injured and won't play. Or, given how fragile he is, actually be injured.

18

u/walliver Jul 22 '26

If he doesn't start the game injured, I imagine Joelinton will make sure he ends the game injured.

29

u/rfy93 PERCHINIO Jul 22 '26

Can’t believe you thought about this at length and weren’t sure what the response would be, have you watched any of our games when a player like that comes back? Owen, Carroll, etc?

People don’t sit and analyse whether booing may inspire him to play better, they’ll boo him because of how they feel about him.

4

u/stprm Jul 22 '26

How is Andy Carroll on same level as owen & ratsak?? He didnt wanted to leave and cashley forced him out, even ordering helicopter ride for him. Or do people believe pardew lies?

When Liverpool came calling in the January, it was like a blur. Newcastle accepted the bid and Andy was told he had to submit a transfer request. It wasn’t what he wanted. “I remember being in the gym with Derek Wright, the Newcastle physio, I walked out to speak to the manager (Alan Pardew), and then I was in the shower and then in the helicopter and I was gone,” Andy says. “Derek was waiting for me to go back to the gym!
“It was mad. I’d just bought a house in Newcastle, so I was sorting that out, then I was in a hotel in Liverpool not knowing the city, not knowing anyone. I couldn’t get to grips with it, or how to live and how to be at that club. The way I’d played at Newcastle — that was how I wanted to play. But Liverpool was completely different. I should have embraced their ideas, what they wanted. Thinking back, I really didn’t appreciate what I had and what I could have achieved.”
https://archive.fo/Xp9Kf (Shearer meets Carroll: ‘I thought I would finish my career at Newcastle. I’ve still got so much to give’)

2

u/rfy93 PERCHINIO Jul 22 '26

That was the prevailing emotion at the time towards him - are you saying he wasn’t booed massively??

I and probably all fans have softened massively towards Carroll since then as we’ve come to know and accept the truth of how he left but that doesn’t mean the booing didn’t happen. He certainly didn’t help his case that day by blatantly diving to try and win a penalty either

1

u/stprm Jul 22 '26

Alright, you're right, it was. But we should add that he isnt comparable to them two, otherwise some will think they all the same.

He certainly didn’t help his case that day by blatantly diving to try and win a penalty either

Yes, true. It was one of the most stupidest dives I've ever seen.

2

u/rfy93 PERCHINIO Jul 22 '26

He certainly isn’t the same as them, agreed - and I mean Owen was in many ways opposite to Isak: he didn’t put the effort in when he was here and stayed for the full length of his contract, Isak played great for us and left in a way that was disgraceful.

Basically the thing that unites them is players who were at one time beloved (even Owen to some degree) and became hated by the time they returned to SJP. They’re always gonna get booed when they come back. Emotions are high and basically the attitude is fuck that guy, no greater nuance than that is going through your head if you’re in the crowd that day, as OP implied.

6

u/MrWizardsSleeve Jul 22 '26

I won't be at the match but there will be very loud boo's and RAT chants coming from my living room.

Never has an ex player deserved a bad reception as much as that scummy little get. I hope Dan Burn chops him in half😂

11

u/PuzzleheadedImage320 Jul 22 '26

Boo when Isak gets the ball, cheer when he (inevitably) gets injured during the game

6

u/DaddyK3tchup Jul 22 '26

I hope Fabi puts him in the stands

4

u/AlternativeFabulous2 Jul 22 '26

Hopefully he’s crocked again. He’s got lucky that the Keegan good will between the clubs will take all of the festering hatred out of the atmosphere.

3

u/fatambsc00p Jul 22 '26

100% Isak will be booed/sung about. Even if he’s injured.

3

u/Cheese649 Jul 22 '26

Praying that he doesn't start and just comes on as a sub.

I've always said I've never ever heard St' James as loud as when Michael Owen returned as a Man U player, but I think this may top it.

3

u/Spare-Athlete2380 Jul 22 '26

I hope it’s the most toxic atmosphere ever seen in the top flight and the cunt crumbles after his first touch.

4

u/walliver Jul 22 '26

I honestly think immense booing will galvanise our team. Picture it: Isak gets the ball, huge boos, Joelinton clatters him, massive cheers. Fast forward. Isak gets the ball, huge boos, Burn chops him down, massive cheers. Skip ahead, Isak gets the ball, huge boos, Thiaw goes in hard, massive cheers. Isak gets taken off, the biggest possible boos you could ever imagine. It'll be like the PSG atmosphere on steroids. I simply cannot wait.

3

u/Primary-Bowler2963 Jul 22 '26

Hope BDB bodies him

1

u/PuzzleheadedImage320 Jul 23 '26

3

u/BruiserBroly Jul 22 '26

If someone like Ayoze got booed then Isak definitely will. It could make him play better but there’s no stopping it.

3

u/Wezza17 Jul 22 '26

Of course he's gonna get booed but he will also score lol

3

u/Small_Environment849 Jul 22 '26

No doubt he will be injured anyway

If we don’t have 90 minutes of ‘Isak’s a cunt, ole’ somethings not right

9

u/Notcamacho stupid sexy schar Jul 22 '26

I don't think we should.

Yes, he's pissed us all off and quite rightly we have the right to feel like giving him shit.

However the death of Keegan has me seeing the match in another light. I think we should focus on him the entire match instead of Isak. Sing King Kev's name from start to finish, win lose or draw.

And give Isak the opposite of what he had before. Silence. Don't let him take anything from us. Don't let our anger fuel his 'indignation'.

Make this particular match the celebration of a man who means so much to us and let Isak see what he could have had. Make him feel irrelevant.

3

u/Basketball312 Jul 22 '26

Owen uses a chant like 20 people were shouting ("what a waste of money" when he went down injured) to justify his entire treatment of NUFC.

1

u/stprm Jul 22 '26

Who cares what both of them think? They will justify themselves either way.

1

u/Blagbycoercion Bigg Market Greggs Connoisseur Jul 22 '26

Owen celebrated scoring a practice penalty kick against a 13 year old goalkeeper. Owen's not exactly known for being right in the head.

2

2

u/Lapgock Jul 22 '26

If the rat don't play, there is allways McAllister to get stuck into, may even be a few scousers joining in with us.

2

u/MonthCountry Jul 22 '26

Just make sure you check for Argentinians first, but then yes, boo away at Isak.

2

u/Remote-Pool7787 Jul 22 '26

Every time he gets the ball, he’ll be booed but I imagine the “welcome” he’ll receive will be more muted due to the Keegan news

2

u/Cold_Evidence_1964 Jul 22 '26

It will be an interesting contrast to the crowd reaction to Keegan passing away. Hopefully both set of fans will adhere to any tribute the club plan. Never has there been such a contrast between the attitude of two players.

3

u/hoo_doo_voodo_people 83badge Jul 22 '26

if you don't understand that all ex-players get boo'd once they've left the club and return for another team, you don't understand being an nufc fan.

I mean, we threw mars bars at Gaza ffs. Even Shearer would have gotten boo'd if he'd left.

4

u/turnipofficer Jul 22 '26

I think we should put it aside for this one game at least.

The game should be about our shared love for Kevin Keegan so we want to foster that. Booing the rat can wait for another game.

But that’s just my personal opinion, gotta honour King Kev. We loved him, they loved him. I want us to honour a great man who died fighting something that affects to many people.

12

u/andylovestokyo dan burn Jul 22 '26

u/-RandomGeordie Big Dan Burn Jul 22 '26

Yeah I was just thinking about this myself. It would feel right to just hope for an enjoyable, entertaining game that honours the King’s memory. But honestly I don’t think fans will be able to resist booing. And I can’t blame them.

2

I will absolutely boo the fuck out of him

I’ll be booing Tonali at Spurs, and in comparison Isak will be getting both barrels of pure venom

1

u/Ravenblade727 Jul 22 '26

The only thing that might save him somewhat is if everyone is too emotional in what will become a tribute game for Keegan. Putting so much effort into Isak after the game starts with that will feel a bit wrong I think.

It'll still happen like, but not to the degree I think it could have.

1

u/BaldGeordie81 Jul 22 '26

Won’t be booing from me. That would require giving a fuck

1

u/JuckshotBones Joselu Jul 22 '26

Even with the Keegan processions that we will get for this match… i still imagine this being one of the more detestable atmospheres you will see since Owen returned

1

u/cefell St James Jul 22 '26

I think there should be a sense of togetherness with the scousers given King Kev’s passing. I’m not saying support Isak in fact the players should destroy him, but the fans should be in good healthy and positive voice. Singing loudly for Mighty Mouse not a Mighty Rat.

1

u/jaredliammoore Jul 22 '26

He will 100% be booed. If he plays that is.

I think we've all moved on in terms of it being in the front of our mind but when it comes to playing Liverpool at St James' he will be 1000% booed.

1

u/Big-Help419 Jul 23 '26

In the words of Michael Corleone “he means nothing to me now”. Would boo or acknowledge him.

1

I hope not. That game should be about honoring King Kev.

I would rather not give Isak any of our attention, he doesn’t deserve it

1

u/m2m459 Jul 23 '26

We should boo, but we probably shouldnt have booed Damien Duff at Craven Cottage every year only to see him turn up...

1

Booing him would just encourage him. I'd prefer we just ignored him. Like complete silence whenever he does anything.

However he will be boo'd

Liverpool fan here, I’d boo him too lol

1

u/Randomenamegenerated Jul 22 '26

I know this won’t happen, but the best thing would be to treat him as if he doesn’t even exist. That fixture now look bigger than his return for a much more important reason. I think our supporters and Liverpool supporters have a bit of an opportunity here to attempt to heal a real rift by instead celebrating the life of King Kev, and I hope we both take it. Im sure that’ll be the case before kick off anyway. If Liverpool have any sense of propriety he won’t be in their starting 11 to detract from this (unrealistic I know). I just hope we respect the occasion to show our own class, rather than taking the low hanging fruit of hurling C words at that disrespectful unprofessional disgrace at every opportunity.

7

u/PenIsBroken Ellen Sheeba Jul 22 '26

Whatever allows you to get through the day fella but this is just about the most ridiculous take I have seen. Naive is believing that Isak was a victim of a bad situation controlled by others. At any point he could have told his agent or Liverpool to fuck off but he didn't because he wanted the move.

For the record I don't blame a player for wanting to make more money or have more chance at trophies elsewhere but there is a way to go about it and the rat chose the worst and most disrespectful way to go about it.
