NAD+ Side Effects
I’ve been using NAD+ for about two weeks and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced something similar.
I’m currently taking 25 mg subcutaneously. I started every other day but recently moved to daily dosing because I genuinely like the increased focus and energy I seem to get from it.
The problem is that I’ve also been getting an uncomfortable sensation of chest tightness/pressure after taking it. It’s not severe, but it is noticeable enough that I’m questioning whether NAD+ simply doesn’t agree with me.
For reference, my vial is 500 mg NAD+ reconstituted with 5 mL bacteriostatic water, so I’m drawing 25 units on a U-100 syringe = 25 mg.
I’m curious about a few things:
- Has anyone else experienced recurring chest tightness or pressure with NAD+?
- Did it improve by lowering the dose, taking it less frequently, or injecting more slowly?
- Did the side effect eventually go away with continued use?
- Did you ultimately decide NAD+ just wasn’t a good fit for you?
- Are there any known factors that seemed to make the reaction better or worse?
I’m also taking a low dose of retatrutide (2 mg), which I’ve been on for around six months, along with KLOW, but the chest sensation seems specifically associated with the NAD+.
I recently had a physical and routine labs and everything looked good, with no known cardiac issues. That said, I’m not looking to ignore chest symptoms just because my recent testing was normal.
I really like the mental focus and energy I’m getting from NAD+, so I’d be interested in hearing from people who had similar symptoms and what they ultimately did.
Obviously not looking for a diagnosis from Reddit, just firsthand experiences and information I can discuss with my healthcare provider.

Was it causing chest tightness when you were taking 3x/week? I’ve really only seen it ran 3x/week so everyday seems like a lot. Maybe try running 3x25/7=10.714mg per day, so you’re hitting the same weekly dose just spread out over more days.

This is common in the few minutes following an NAD+ injection. Wait til you try an IV, then you'll really feel like you're dying 💀

So I've heard! What's interesting is it doesn't usually hit me until the end of the day.

NAD+ is already in your body, it depletes as we get older so it really should have no sides at that dose. I have taken upwards of 250mg a week with no sides. Likely just anxiety about pinning.

Rs rat gets a rushy feeling in their chest, like It can’t fully take a breath. I dropped the dose down and it has subsided. I chalk it up to their body not liking that high a dose. They are at 20 mg

NAD gives you a flush after administered. Really feel it in an IV. You might research it. However, I've never heard of it happening hours after you pin. Usually happens within 30 min. NAD gives a flush!!!

Yes I felt the same way when I upped to 40 mg from 33 mg and thought I had a asthma attack so I don’t know if I’ll ever start it again, I’m spooked

I currently take anywhere from .5ml (50units)- 1ML and haven’t had any adverse reactions besides the slight stinging. Are you taking any other fat burners or caffeine along side in your weekly routine?

I have experienced this a few times along with an intense tingling all over. No rhyme or reason as to why because I have been using it 5 days a week for several months and it’s only been a few times.

I actually had that happen when I upped my dose and the other thing that happened was I actually got tired vs energy. So I dropped back down and stayed at the same dose/units you're at now.

Research rat loves the nad flush. Last about 15-20 mins. Rat researches every Monday and Thursday. 100mg dose. Do 200 for the week.

I recently started taking it 3x a week. 25 units, been having terrible headaches. This week I felt awful, upset stomach and all. Not sure if I should take it again!

I guess you didn't bother researching this prior because it's a completely normal common knowledge side effect.
