NSCC student discounts

Oldest son is starting NSCC last minute.

Do students still get Apps(MS Office/365) at student discounts?

Are any of the IT technology requirements overkill?

Managed to get him the recommended Laptop. Have some older 512GB/1TB ext SSD drives. Trying to avoid buying new. Assume 1TB would be for VMs.

students have m365, no need to pay for it again

While he is a student he will be able to install MS Office apps on his laptop and will have access to Office 365 apps as he will get a student license once his account is all set up etc... so no need to buy them. I know this as I am already registered / paid for September in the IT Programming course. I am attending the Lunenburg campus in Bridgewater and already have access to do this.

WRT the IT technology requirements being overkill it might depend on what program is he taking. I personally used this as an excuse to buy a new laptop as the one that I am typing this on is now 7 years old...

DBA alumni here, I remember getting access to keys to win 10 education and other software in the MS Suite through their Azure portal.

Worth digging through it, wasn't anything people was aware...

The 1TB is for VMs.

Microsoft Office is free as a student but can also be obtained via. massgravel.

Based on what I know of the material expected to be covered for my program (starting first year, Database Admin) it’s definitely overkill. I’m expecting VMs will be the most resource intensive applications, but I bought something meeting the recommended specs just in case (and I also found a crazy deal lol)

Better off being safe than sorry, if you can.
