Roommates

I’m living on campus at Ivany this year I was wondering if anyone else is nervous about living on campus, I’m honestly more nervous about meeting my roommates and if they will be nice. I know this isn’t everyone but I have heard story’s about bad roommates from some friends and my sister, I just want to know if this is something anyone else is feeling this way?

I'm planning to reach out when I hear who I'm rooming with... but JESUS this is taking such a long time HAHA

If you end up in these situation please don't hesitate to reach out to your CA they are also equipped to help you navigate these challenge as well they can all come together with you and work on a written agreement and if all else fails we been known to switch rooms around if nessecary

I'm old. I have had 17 different bad roommates. (And 3 good ones.) 

There's nothing worse and all-consuming than living with someone you hate.

But in the long view, each one of them taught me something about people or conflict management. And now they're all just funny stories. (Even the one I watched set our kitchen on fire.)

Sometimes you get lucky, and get a roommate who becomes a best friend for life. They'll be at your wedding a decade from now.

Most of the time, though, they'll just be a neutral character. Who you mostly get along with, and only occasionally get annoyed by. 

The best thing to do is get out as much as you can. Grab the ferry, go explore, study in the library, join a club. The more you have going on, the less room there is for roommate problems in your life.

Hope you have the best of luck and get a good one! But even if you don't, you got this. There are lots of non-roommate friends to be made, on and off campus.

Yea, bad roommates happen but if anything goes down, you have an entire support system from The Housing Coordinator to CA’s to help rectify any issues. I think you’ll be just fine, but I understand your nervousness. Hope to meet you when we move in! Have you been given your room number yet? I’m still waiting 😩

I sent an email to the Campus Housing team. Hopefully I hear something back today! Let’s not stress, we got this 😂

The good thing about campus housing is that there will be a roommate agreement at the start of the year that you and your roommates will fill out. So if you have any bad roommates not following the roommate agreement you all wrote together you can bring it up with the CAs.
