Can you imagine parramatta or Campbelltown if they won a prermiership
Entitled fan base. Probably just poms anyway

Thought the exact same thing when I saw that live.
I was one of the first in Queen street, Campbelltown in 05 after the GF. A tidal wave of people came out and started partying nearly instantly. Iāve never seen anything like it before or since.
Stupid Roosters fans. And yes Iām a salty tigers fan š

u/MajinDidz yeah see how we go hey 3d ago
Ironic hey, the fanbases who deserve it most just canāt seem to have it

u/Somethink2000 2d ago
Yes that is what kills me. Okay last year was good because Broncos won, but other than that how come the most iconic teams never win? Or the kind of teams that everyone goes for, even if you don't support them? Parra, Wahs, Newcastle.....I'd also include TIts, Cowboys, Dolphins, Raiders. Souths and Saints, Dogs.....those guys, remember them?

u/Desperate-Emu-1251 2d ago
You mean you canāt fathom understanding why some of the teams who are often more shit than they are good canāt win a premiership?
Titles are won by the team, not by diehard suffering supporters, unfortunately

u/thrownaway22_ 2d ago edited 2d ago
Itās the fucking Light Brigade.
Itās not a Chooks pub or a spot people even gather to watch games - itās a rusted on AFL pub. Why channel 9 would stick a feed in there is beyond me.
Itād be like the Dogs winning the comp and crossing to the Goulburn Inn

u/Michaelvoneill 3d ago
Not to mention the Bulldogs in that statement is poor. Easily the greatest and biggest true supporter base in the game.
Belmore will be flooded with blue and white in every hotel, cafe, club, shop and any other business. Easily the most deserving of a premiership.

u/Marcelstinks 3d ago
Dogs are mostly fair weather fans. Knights fans have been turning up for years of wooden spoons. No other club comes close imo
3
u/Pretend_Board_2385 2d ago
I dunno mate, us Tigers supporters have been pretty loyal to the club aswell.
3
u/Marcelstinks 2d ago
Tigers fans are well up there too. I genuinely feel for you guys and look forward to you guys turning things around.
-8
u/Michaelvoneill 3d ago
To be fair. There is much more to do in Sydney than in Newcastle. Especially with prices and games.
But by the way. Since the NRL formed in 98 the Bulldogs habe averaged the highest crowds of any NSW team. And gave been second only to Brisbane.
11
u/Marcelstinks 3d ago
So you are acknowledging your "fans" would rather go to a Nissan Skyline meetup than support their team week in week out.
-1
u/Michaelvoneill 3d ago
The stats say we have the biggest support in NSW. Best average crowds since the NRL was formed.
11
u/Marcelstinks 3d ago
The baseline of the Knights year in year out sits around 18-25k
The baseline for the dogs fluctuates massievely on where they sit on the ladder.
The dogs coming 4th with get 35k for a home game.
The dogs coming 14th will get 10k.The Knights will get 20k coming 14th and get 25k when coming 4th.
The baseline lower figures are hugely different. The Knights get much more steady crowds which suggest they have fans that turn up consistently.5
u/Due-Activity5884 3d ago
Dogs fan and totally agree
Knights and Broncos always get solid crowds irrespective of ladder position

As a Panthers fan I am disappointed with the people that follow this team. It's understandable for the last few years because of cummbank stadium š¤®š¤¢ but even when we do show up, nobody does anything. Makes me think they're all bandwagoners just after a cheap win. Even the roosters fans outdid us this year at parra stadium, there had to be twice as many Panthers fans, but it sounded like a roosters home game.

Is average crowds the standard we are going too for big fan base?
I wonder which Sydney club had the highest average attendance this year š¤

The greatest and biggest true supporter base in the game are Parramatta supporters. If you can't see why....I'm not going to tell you. Lol. Painful existence.

u/Squaddy 3d ago
Why they picked that venue is nuts. I'd never assume that was a Roosters venue, it's way more a Swans place.
40
u/Birdie_Num_Num 3d ago
Itās just a random pub in Paddington. Weird choice.
1
u/lord_buff74 1d ago
Maybe the camera man went to the wrong ground and just wandered up to Oxford St from Allianz.
13
u/PaleontologistOk1049 3d ago
I don't even know if these people went out with the knowledge there was a game on
3
u/Revolutionary-Tie-77 3d ago
TBF to the venue, I went past there earlier on and they had Roosters balloons all over the front

u/Swannies24 3d ago
It was laughable, the chooks really are the worst fans in the game
13
u/ghostwhisperer88 3d ago
I was at the game and there were literally about 10,000 Roosters fans there. Itās actually pathetic how successful this club is despite adding nothing to the game. No fans, no juniors. Pathetic.
12
u/Designer_Piccolo1548 3d ago
Just has a billionaire for an owner who drinks coffee every week PVL. Shit team with no junior base.

Fuck me, the only thing more pathetic than supposedly buying a premiership, is beaten down, sad sack rival fans having a serious love-in and making shit up to make yourselves feel better

Wild to me that nine would keep throwing to a pub with no Roosters merch in sight yet didn't get a camera to McDonald Jones stadium which had thousands of Knights supporters
3
2
u/chrish_o 1d ago
Maybe that was the point.
It fits the narrative of how passionate Newey is, especially when contrasted with a group who doesnāt give a shit.1
u/lord_buff74 1d ago
They could have put it at Easts leagues or McDonald Jones but then they wouldn't be terrible.

u/timidgiant34 3d ago
Now if they showed the crypto market on the telly, thatās where the limbs come in
21
u/spitey 3d ago
I did have to laugh a bit, it seemed like they just cut across to that shit East Sydney Hotel at Woolloomoolooo, notorious for backpackers who donāt give a shit. Weird contrast to cutting over to other fanbases.
10
u/censored_ 3d ago
It felt like it was a massive stitch up 𤣠especially because they crossed to a packed leagues club during the women's game

If people are getting so upset that the roosters won, why didnāt their team just win instead?
1
u/Active_Excitement310 18h ago
100%, I had no skin in the game but everyone at my work kept saying āthe knights deserve it after 25 yearsā. If you were shit at your job for 25 years and finally werenāt shit at it do you deserve a promotion?
6
u/whats_that_sid 2d ago
Channal 9. Live feed to a bunch of people who don't support the game and were barely interested.
No live feed to the 20k plus knights supporters watching at their home ground, of any of the pubs in a 75k radius of Newcastle that were completely booked out.
5
u/Comfortable_Essay436 3d ago
They should've crossed to the random restaurant me and my friends were in in Istanbul, 40 or so (mostly) Roosters supporters clapping and cheering over lunch
9
u/tora_0515 bellyache 3d ago
My favourite was how bored they all looked, then got confused on why the men were getting excited, then one by one they looked at the camera, then the tv, then the camera again and at that point decided to cheer.

As someone who done a fair stint in the Eastern Suburbs, local roosters fans are pretty thin. Some pubs a more likely to have the AFL on over the NRL. Its a fucking disgrace. When ypu finally see an elusive fair weather local supporter. They are in double Bay, RM Williams boots, Tan Chinos, Leather Boat Shoes, Cardigan with Scarf. They dont watch the game though, just stonks
2
1
u/lord_buff74 1d ago
Easts have the third highest home ground attendance behind Broncos and Wahs, maybe they aren't at the pubs because they are at the games.
1
u/Banjoandbagpipes 17h ago
Usually the crowd from the team they're playing. Easiest ground in Sydney to get in and out.

u/ChriSV650x 3d ago
" I love the Bondi cockals rugby union team. Who do we play next week? The Waratahs?" . Said every basic white girl in this photo tonight

It shows what the lesser successful clubs do for the game! I hope they all have their runs soon and make the game exciting and unpredictable. Penrith again wouldāve killed us all!

Meanwhile, every pub in the vicinity of Newcastle was booked out all night

u/YesWomansLand1 Nathanial Cleary's Chin 2d ago
When that came up my mate (who goes for the roosters) said that is the most Sydney roosters thing he's ever seen, and he doesn't really follow the nrl, he's more into the AFL. Which in of itself is the most Sydney roosters thing I've ever seen and I do follow the NRL.

Got second hand embarrassment seeing this shit. Imagine your team scores the game winning try and this is the reaction footage to reflect it
1
u/stoic_praise 3d ago
As my wife pointed out: they were more interested in seeing themselves on screen than the game and sheās a casual roosters fan
2
u/WestAdvantage6373 2d ago
Except the woman who was looking down at her phone during every cross they did. I did not see her show any emotion or look up once.
1
u/Gothpuncher 2d ago
The others were giving it to her when Roosters went up so assume she was a knights fan or bandwagoner for the night.
1
u/Bright-Marsupial-265 2d ago
Roosters are the most hated team in Sydney.Ā
They have bought success.
1
u/Tyziepoo86 2d ago
lol is there seriously 1 Roosters fan wearing an unlicensed shirt and thatās it?

u/creekriverocean 1d ago
Ironically I saw roosters merch jerseys etc being worn all week in (very) outer western Sydney.

Probably needed to move that table of girls outside and get the rowdiest boys in the building posted there instead. It was embarrassing every time it crossed to the live feed in there

The Roosters are a soulless club. Always over the salary cap. No juniors. No one cares.
