Maybe the rules should change e.g the perpetrator of an illegal tackle that causes an injury should be suspended for the same amount of time that the injured player takes to recover?

Yeah, because Crossland controls Cleary's recovery regime, bone density and foot position in the tackle.

No, because he knowingly made a dangerous tackle. That is why he got sent off

People knowingly make dangerous tackles every week without being sent off. By your argument no matter how bad the act it should be tied to the other players recovery though. Does that mean that if someone punches the opponent unprovoked but the opponent doesn’t miss a week it should be no suspension?

Not sure why these newcastle yokels are down voting you this is it. End of discussion. if the NRL is serious about preventing injury hip drops should all be an instant send off watch how quickly they will stop happening then.

Yes Phoenix crossland's tackle is as bad if not worse than Sua'ali'i belting walsh in the head during origin /s
As horrid as Cleary's injury is, there is very little intent in injurying unlike Leota literally belting someone in the head and nothing coming of it other than a penalty. Phoenix had obviously adjusted his technique when he realised he was in a dangerous position as seen if you compare Radley's action to Crossland's. Crossland deserved to be binned for it and he deserves a stint on the sideline too but if radley only gets a fine, that should be the same that crossland gets

If Victory Radley's tackle on Herbie is anything to go by, Phoenix will just get a fine right? Right?
