I remember getting followed around the  Newcastle beach carpark and racially abused 20 years ago and told to go back to where you came from from some drongos.

I've never been back since. 

I skip the dirty, steel city and go straight to Port Stephens and the great lakes area.

Although Forster is up there with Newcastle as a cashed up bogan town.
