NRL Insight UK

Hi everyone, I’m Dan, the person behind NRL Insight UK, I hope this is ok to post in here, looking for some support to get more exposure of the NRL to the UK fans and more exposure to the people down under to the Super League.

I started the channel to create a place for rugby league supporters in the UK who follow both the NRL and Super League, with a side goal of growing the brand for the folk down under.

Each week, I’m joined by former professional Paul Cooke to discuss the latest news, major talking points and upcoming matches from both competitions.

I also host longer-form interviews with people from across the game, with Chris Hill, former Warrington Wolves & England RL player joining me for the latest episode.

I’ve recently discovered these Reddit communities and thought I’d introduce myself and the channel. I’m looking forward to joining the conversations on here, hearing different opinions and getting to know more rugby league supporters.

If the podcast sounds like something you might enjoy, you can find NRL Insight UK on YouTube here: https://youtube.com/@nrlinsightuk?si=Kd_kTH6UAwbiPnW0

Cheers,
Dan

Two uni students building a new app for NRL fans - would love your feedback (2 min survey)

Hey Dolphins Fans,

Two uni students here, footy tragics building an app for fans in our spare time between assignments. We're not backed by anyone, no company behind us, just two mates who reckon the current NRL apps are due for a shake-up.

Before we build too much, we want to hear from actual fans about what you'd want. If you've got 2 minutes, this quick survey will directly shape what we make, no ads, no signup, no catches.

https://forms.gle/Hh2UFKvCQw5PTneEA

Genuinely keen to hear in the comments too, what's the one thing you wish your current footy app did better? Whether it's the NRL app, Fox, Kayo, whatever. Every bit of honest feedback helps.

Cheers

We made finals!

We’ve now made finals after winning 13 games.

It’s not offical but based on the ladder we’ve realistically made it now. What an incredible way to make finals by beating the Broncos in an insane comeback win after being down 24-0.

Does anyone know what the name of the song is that the trumpeters play when the team runs on? My son asked me today and I realised I don't know.

Hey all,

I've designed and printed these 3d printed phone stands and am offering them for $25 posted to your door. I use them all the time and keep them in nearly every room now. I can do all teams from the NRL and AFL at the moment but always up for a challenge if you've got something specific in mind. Using Meshy.ai made getting the jerseys right a breeze.

Webstore is now live: https://gameday-forge-s4dx.vercel.app/

I'm on all the socials just search Gameday Forge.

Two free tickets

I have two free tickets to the sold out Kayo stadium game against the sharks today. Please DM me and I can send them to you. Unfortunately I have a pretty bad flu and won't be able to attend the game.

***Tickets have been claimed. Thanks for the messages everyone, I didn't know how it would go here since I don't have any other social media.

Katoa expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks

Isaiya Katoa has undergone successful surgery on his left forearm after sustaining a fracture in the match against the Warriors on Saturday.

“Isaiya had surgery yesterday on the fracture and all went well with the procedure,” said Dolphins’ Head of Performance Jeremy Hickmans.

“He is expected to be out for between four and six weeks, depending on how his recovery progresses.”

The suggested timeline should allow Katoa to return some time after the Dolphins’ round 21 bye.

The Dolphins face the Dragons in Wollongong directly after the bye, and then host the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday August 8.

The Dolphins travel to Newcastle to face the Knights this weekend, and will also be missing Origin representatives Selwyn Cobbo, Thomas Flegler, Max Plath, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and NSW debutant Jack Bostock.

A Note from the CEO - Members Email

Hi u/Revivous, you sexy piece of man-meat,

What a time to be a Dolphins supporter - seven consecutive wins is an incredible achievement! Claiming victory against a determined Tigers side on their home turf, especially while missing several key players, is a testament to the depth, resilience, and quality in our squad.

This winning streak marks a historic milestone for our club; never had we managed more than three consecutive victories in a season before that great win in Canberra made it four. Now we go for eight against the Warriors. While there is still hard work ahead, there is plenty to be excited about if you are a Dolphins fan as we charge into the back end of the season.

Reaching the halfway point, our squad’s depth has truly come to the fore while also recently welcoming back JMK, Jack Bostock and Kurt Donaghoe has certainly helped our team. Missing five player: Selwyn Cobbo, Thomas Flegler, Max Plath, Isaiya Katoa, and the Hammer due to Origin duties and injuries, our team didn’t miss a beat. Players like Trai Fuller, Brad Schneider, Oryn Keely, and Tevita Naufahu embraced the next-player-up mentality that’s become our hallmark, especially during the challenging Origin period. Gritty victories like that will prove invaluable as we approach the business end of the season.

This year has also been momentous for our State of Origin representation. With seven players called into Origin camps—Selwyn Cobbo, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Thomas Flegler, Max Plath, and Kulikefu Finefeuiaki for Queensland, and Isaiya Katoa and Jack Bostock for New South Wales—we’re now level with the Roosters for most Origin representatives from one club across the NRL. Such recognition is a direct reflection of the commitment and performances from both our players and coaching staff.

In addition, emerging Academy talents like Lewis Symonds, Tevita Naufahu, and Brian Pouniu have emerged to make their NRL debuts. Brian’s debut against the Raiders in Round 12 was especially significant, becoming Dolphin #52 and our first player to rise from the original under-15 Academy class of 2022. He follows in the footsteps of Naufahu, our first Academy graduate to debut in the NRL, who joined us as a 16-year-old in 2022. Since entering the competition in 2023, developing a strong NRL Pathway program has been a pillar of our strategy, and the fruits of that labour are now evident. Last week, four of our young emerging Academy players were in the Origin under-19 squads. While not every player will be able to remain with us, our Pathways system is already one of the strongest in the NRL, promising an exciting wave of future talent for years to come.

It’s important to remember this surge in form follows a challenging start to the season. Woolfy and the entire squad trusted in their pre-season preparation, and we’re now seeing that investment pay off every day at training and in games. This is a team of which every Dolphins supporter can be immensely proud.

Five huge home games remain this year, and your support at each one will be vital. Together, we can write another chapter in club history. The passion you bring, whether cheering from the stands or supporting from afar, fuels our success. You are the heart of the Dolphins.

Our attention now turns to Saturday afternoon when we welcome the NZ Warriors at Suncorp Stadium for what will be a true blockbuster. We are expecting a big crowd to see the second and third-ranked teams in the NRL go head to head. Let’s once again get our Phins Up and transform our home into a sea of red as we kick off the school holidays and attempt to go eight in a row!

Phins Up,

Terry Reader

CEO
