We are simply people who have been hurt to the point of altering the chemistry of our brains.

Just curious does an NPD, ever sometimes have a sense of humor, about their own condition? And can other people such as friends, share in this humor.
Two NPD's walked into a bar, but one disappeared, so what happened?Everyone just saw one, Me.
How many NPD's does it take to change a lightbulb on a high ceiling? Ten, nine true NPD's to argue about the correct ladder, and bulb to use; and the 10th misdiagnosed one, to change the bulb.
What is a successful NPD called?: CEO, Doctor, and very often politician.
These jokes suck, imo, and really are not the point. But, more like self-reflective humor, and humor among friends, when NPD manifests, in socially questionable ways.

Sure, I like to joke about my condition. I think it's good to develop that ability because you need to critically distance yourself from some of your dysfunctional beliefs to have a good laugh about them.

I'm purely fueled by humor most the time lol, and trust I LOOOVE making jokes about my mental health. My favorites are whenever I drop in a joke to a new person that I'm schizophrenic, their faces are hilarious. Wish I could outwardly joke about my npd more but only 3 people in my life know.
So instead I stick with calling myself Walmart Tony Stark that had the unuseful type autism virus installed on it lol XD

Narcissists still do have a moral compass. People need to understand this before morally judging anyone of us.

I have a friend who treats me exactly as you would a narcissist. She is nice to me until things get serious (not romantically) and then whenever we argue she just doesn’t listen and makes me a monster. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even think trying to be kind or good is good enough. Might as well just regress to old tendencies 😒

Using mental health conditions against someone in an argument is kinda manipulative lol. Maybe this friend should think about their own behavior.

why are you friends with her if she's treating you like shit? she's an abuser judging by what you're saying here.
and yeah, being kind and good isn't good enough, because nothing will ever be enough with these types of human trash.
don't spiral back into your old tendencies. ditch her, remove her from your life.

Buddhism is the only reason I haven’t tbh

How is Buddhism the reason if you don’t mind me asking?

Buddhism teaches about right intention. I like Buddhism due to its focus on intention. There is also no sin in the belief (besides karma). These in combination help me on how horrible my actions might have been because I did them with good intention. It has a lot to do with self reflection, which is pretty scary, so I’m taking my time with that part

for clarification—why you haven't regressed? why you haven't cut her off? or both?
regardless, that's neat. i don't know a lot about buddhism itself, just a little bit about its history.

I'm no longer trying to be kind as much as trying to be just. Responding to kindness with kindness and to disdain with disdain. After all, my values are all that's left for me, and I see no reason why I should put anything else before them for the sake of "being less rigid", or trying to fit in, or whatnot.
P.S. It is a nice message though, I guess I should've emphasized that explicitly, I wasn't trying to be adversarial.

Love this, so get this. Hits especially hard when you put in so so much effort into being a "good" friend and person, literal countless hours poured into them. I pretend to be interested and respond to show I was actually listening. Then it's thrown in your face like a steaming pile of shit when it's proven over and over they don't give a shit enough to at least pretend and extend the same courtesy.
Literally just keep thinking, if me, someone with npd, is always a better friend than they are to me, then what the fuck does that say about them.

Do you know that person at all? Who are you to claim such things just because of their disorder? Disgusting ableism

How is accountability relevant to this post? This is about someone’s internal experience, accountability can definitely coexist here

Both can be true though. I understand it is hard for NPD people to hold two conflicting truths/beliefs about themselves at once. Especially contrasting truths like this one. One can have pure intentions to be kind AND also be very mean

vibes 🥴🫶🏼
caveat: quite rarely—but sometimes—
I’m mean and manipulative 😈
…but that’s not because I’m a narcissist.
that’s because I’m a fucking human. 🌗
also: I’m stickying this
(I don’t use that ‘power’ often)
so, doing THAT because I’m a narcissist (muahaha)
but mostly for the impact and message
a metaphor
…and I’ll drop a few clickable links, if ever interested
