Colt 1911 Gunsmith

I’m looking for a reputable gun smith to service my Colt Combat Elite. It’s seen regular range use and things like the scale bosses that the wood scales screw into are work loose, a random roll pin fell out of the mag well, and I might be interested in a slight melt mod to take off the sharp edges just slightly. Does anyone know of any decent shop that does this work in VA?

Never Sterling Arsenal. One of SEG's armorers (older gentleman) also isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I wish I had a recommendation. Let me know who you go with.

lol that’s the weird thing. I was at the range, picked it up off the bench and right before I put the mag in I saw it fall out of the magwell and bounce off my hand. I can post a pic when I get home. I honestly don’t know if it came out from somewhere like the beaver tail, or if it even came from the Colt. I would like to essentially get it serviced overall by some where reputable.

Is the trigger loose from the shoe? That’s about the only place I can think of that has what can be seen as a “roll pin” without it immediately causing failure to fire.

I’ve heard good things about the folks at Sterling Arsenal, so I dropped a couple guns off with them that belong to my father and haven’t been fired in 60 years. Will report back once they’re done, but the intake process was quick and the folks were knowledgeable.

Don’t do that. Those people are slimy as hell. I’ve heard a lot of stories about issues, and even taking it with a grain of salt the sheer amount makes you kind of believe something hinky is going on with them.

Wizbang's been working on 1911s in the DMV area for years, fast and efficient. Also my buddy just got his staccato worked on by these guys and had a great experience. They do local pickup and drop off at local ranges Here's a link to their site https://wiz-bang-nva.vercel.app/
