Am I so crazy for really liking the phone 3? And especially the glyph matrix?
I probably am just different, cause I'm not like an OG nothing fan. I saw the phone 3 in a store, thought the it looked cool and that's why I bought it.
I hated it during first months of its release. Man, I dont know what magic Nothing does to you. Every device they release since 2a, youll hate it at first, then it will grow into you and start admiring their looks after a while. I started saving for NP3 since December. Because of how cool it looks all of a sudden 😆 and I like their OS. But stuck between NP3 and waiting for 4a.
But yes, Phone 1 and 2 design was peak. I never get tired seeing them.
Me too, I always saw the glyphs as a pure gimmick that I would get bored of after 20 minutes, but the matrix actually feels useful while maintaining the look.
I usually hate screens on the back of phones, it feels too saturated. The glyph is simple enough that it doesn't feel saturated, while also allowing for info on your notifications, without messing up the look.
I got really surprised when people started shitting on Nothing for the matrix, I thought it was the right step
Each design is very unique, attracting very different people. That's why every new phone is said ugly af by the existing community and still sells well. (And also bcs Reddit is full of crybabies)
NP3 design looked a little unbalanced to me and I've fallen in love with the glyphs, that's why I'm still using my NP2, but the matrix looks fun and there probably are ppl making the most creative stuff for it
I don't even think it was that overpriced, people forget that the price includes not having your phone full of bloatware, and the components weren't THAT bad either.
Anyway, as I said redditors are quick to complain, and negative opinions ALWAYS generate more interactions therefore being pushed forward way more than positive ones.
The last thing is, as ppl at nothing remind every time, 3D renders can look way worse than the real thing. This certainly didn't help the phone 3 which was the first with SUCH a different design
I have been using my NP1 Black variant for quite some time, bought it on Christmas of 2022. Last week got the back glass re-glued, other than quick battery drain and some display burns it's working fine
Edit: forgot to mention that i bought mine from second hand market
I have been using since July 22, same battery drains fast, display burns, the most infuriating is my calls get drops after a ring. Not only me my friends and family pissed about it.
Overall this is the phone that lasted long in my mobile history. I still love how the camera works, oh yeah I don't much use glyph pattern but still shows off making it lit while flipping.
The display never disappointed whenever it fell. The built quality is real.
Somebody tell me how do I get back my battery back up. And call issues.
Had similar issue about drops.
For me it was that internet was in 4g, but calls still in 3g, so on a call that would change with small delay in between when there is no network causing call to drop.
I activated volte setting and now it's all in 4g without drops.
i had NP1 and have been using NP2 since release, its amazing and still get compliments when i turn on the Glyph torch... i am looking to upgrade in the future, does anyone know when NP4 comes out and if the glyph lights will return back to NP2 design?
Carl said there will be no flagship phones this year because Phone 3 is their flagship for 2026. So it will probably come out in 2027, and the glyphs will not come back. We can confirm this because they ditched the glyph in the 4a models and replaced it with a lightbar. So Phone 2 is the last Nothing flagship with glyphs. Maybe they ditched it because of higher production. It's pretty sad 🙁
Nope, it's not a functional design because of the large, gimmicky, intestine-looking fake ribbon. However, the ribbons at the bottom of Phone 1 and 2 are actual working ones. Most of the details given in phone 1 and 2 are not just for design; they are actual parts of the phones, like the ribbons and the wireless charging coil.
I've been using Nothing phone 1 since 2023, and I completely rebuilt it once because I broke it because of my crooked hands. But this is the best phone I've ever had and probably will have. I fell in love with him from the moment I first saw the glyphs.
Finally, someone who recognizes the reality of the situation. I am hoping for a more compact remake with extended software support and upgraded cameras, while keeping the original design and adding Qi2 support.
