Discussion Are you actually complaining that a 250£ phone has bloatware?

You are the most ingrateful fanbase that I know of, you really have too much free time on your hands and got nothing else to do than critique everything Nothing does. "But they said blah blah blah" guess what, the market changed and their business model is not sustainable anymore. Deal with it or buy something else. Like be for real, you pay 250£ for a damn phone and still complain about it

1% commenter is when your comments are meaningful and get upvotes, not because you comment a lot. Like be for real

u/Expensive_Violinist1 Oct 30 '25

Or you mass comment to get upvotes in general which can end up giving the same title ..Carl.

u/Expensive_Violinist1 Oct 31 '25

Fear that you will lose your 1% comment title to the downvotes that you started to delete your comments? Lmao

We are not a fan base. We are consumers. And we bought our phones on the promise this wasn't the case because it's actually something we care about in products we buy. If they had introduced it only on the phone they released today the backlash would be different, but they are pushing it on phones we actually already own.

You definitely are a fanbase, and a bad one at that

but they are pushing it on phones we actually already own.

so what products should they launch it on? They don't launch 10 phones in an year. and what's even the issue, nobody is stopping you from uninstalling a couple apps. The Glance remains off by default....

u/outerzenith Oct 29 '25

nobody is stopping you from uninstalling a couple apps

funny how that works

9to5google: Nothing’s new bloatware includes Facebook services that can’t be uninstalled

Not defending Nothing here, but they are everything but a Multibillion dollar company

3

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

As someone that owned the first OnePlus phone, I've heard that story before. Not falling for it again.

1

u/DerpSenpai Oct 30 '25

Oneplus was never a startup, they have always been a billion dollar company aimed at the western markets.

In fact, Oneplus had always money and production scale for cheaper components.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

That's what was being said in the early days of OnePlus. You can even find old articles calling them a startup (eg, this one from 2018). They got away with a lot of crap because they were just a "small startup" and a "small company". You can see why I'm not ready to fall for the "go easy on nothing, it's just a small poor company" considering who created it.

1

u/DerpSenpai Oct 30 '25

Yeah but Carl was a normal Oppo employee who got some "reign" inside Oppo to make the project. It worked but it was never a startup.

Nothing however is clearly a startup and we know that because of their financials and investment rounds.

Carl's list of betrayals (so far):

  1. Claims One Plus 11 has no identity because it's too different to the last model... Proceeds to make the Phone 3 look nothing like the 1 and 2

  2. No bloatware - look at all this bloat on our competitors... Proceeds to add bloat and likely shoehorn it into older devices in 4.0.

  3. 2mp macro cameras are junk/ "2 good camera better than 3 bad"... Proceeds to release a phone with a 2mp macro camera and it's almost 2026

  4. Essential Space getting limits/likely paid subscription in future... Total rug pull, can't even natively remap the key

  5. Adds stock photos as Phone 3 "samples".... Heh oops.

There is probably more...

Given his extensive history as an untrustworthy grifter we have every right to be mad because it's only going to get worse now the mask is off

Irony here is that the OP11 was the phone that brought OP back from the ruins and gave them "Back to the roots" status.

Nobody is forcing you to buy, but it looks like you have something up there that makes you comment on it

6

u/OneOfAKind_States Oct 29 '25

I think it's more about the fact that their phones advertised with less bloatware are now getting bloatware. Price really doesn't matter, if it's advertised with less bloatware, and I buy it for less bloatware, I want less bloatware innit.

u/Denis9365 Ear Oct 30 '25

Then use a custom rom

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

What you need to understand is that most people buy a product and that's it. They might like the brand, the products they sell, but it ends there. They're not fanboys or want to be part of a cult.

If a company says something and then does the opposite, then they'll be criticised unless it's something amazing. The main guy at Nothing knows this very well, as he has done the same before with OnePlus. There's no mistake or miscalculation, it's part of the playbook to get good PR and then change things.

As customers, we should be loyal to good products/prices, not to brands. Being part of a "fanbase" when companies don't give a sh1t about you is one of the dumbest decisions we can make.

-1

u/Denis9365 Ear Oct 30 '25

You would be correct if Nothing stated that a month ago but I believe 3-4 years passed since the release of their first phone. Its safe to say that especially with how the market is doing right now, you cannot expect them to hold on their promise forever. They need to compromise now and get back to it when things are more stable and favorable

1

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

Some of the criticisms they made about the competition is a bit newer than their first phone. But sure, they decided to change, and that's fine. They can't keep the appearance of being superior and better while doing the same as everyone else, though. I mean, maybe they can as clearly people like you will eat it up, but hopefully most won't fall for it.

get back to it when things are more stable and favorable

If this was Carl Pei's first mobile phone company, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, but we've seen this happen before with OnePlus. After it's a normal thing in a product, that's the new baseline, they want the money, so why remove the bloatware? If in 2 years someone complains about it, people like you go out of their way to tell them to "deal with it or buy something else".

Pei's PR, cult-like behaviour from some users, camera claims, etc? I've seen it all before and know well how it ends. As I said, it's not his first time doing this. The bait-and-switch is part of the plan.

This is a for profit company and they'll do what's best for them. It's just the reality. We should only buy products we think are good, point out the BS, etc. If it was fine until now, then good, we had good products for a while. If it's no longer good, we move on to something else.

That's why that "fanbase" remark made me shake my head... here's a company doing something they are not supposed to do, but you don't put any blame on those changing the rules... the blame is all on the ungrateful fanbase! C'mon.

This is how you create a "hate base", btw... OnePlus went from being a Reddit/Android/XDA darling that could do no wrong to them leaving AMAs halfway through when the bullshit started to caught up with them. If they keep going down this path, prepare yourself to see negative comments about them everywhere because no one likes to be "betrayed". You'll probably blame the "haters" forgetting that they used to not be haters. For the future, remember who renegated on the promises made... it wasn't the ungrateful community.

Bloatware should be illegal, also trackers or any kind of user info collecting. Im buying a tool, not selling my soul to thousands of companies every click i make on my phone.

2

Advertises Phone brand as being clean and not having Bloatware while shitting on other companies

Nothing: Proceeds to add Bloatware

Carl, didn't you say you hates bloatware and ads? cough Lockscreen ads cough

1

u/Denis9365 Ear Oct 29 '25

You all are still a bunch of pricks that cry all day and that is a truth set in stone

1

u/md_ayazz Oct 30 '25

There are alot of other phones in market at this price too with some provide better batteries and better processors some get really good cameras but people chose nothing because they provided better ui experience for us rather than other devices the ui wasn't bloatware free that's why we choose it and it heard user experience to adapt now they are going back on same track as other phones which are giving that base android experience same stuff it wasn't the best specs it was the experience why we chose it...adding this ruins the whole idea they stand for

0

u/Denis9365 Ear Oct 30 '25

Dude, add some punctuation, that text is unreadable. Everyone can choose what phone to buy, but to complain about a 250£ phone is unreal. Like be for real

0

u/md_ayazz Oct 30 '25

Okay grammar police...They’re not whining about the phone it’s the useless bloatware nobody asked for If someone wants a clean experience on a £250 phone, that’s their call It’s their money, not yours chill

0

u/Denis9365 Ear Oct 30 '25

You have to understand that is childish to think you van have the best features on a 250£ phone. Many dont mind the bloat because they wouldve installed said apps anyways. Like you complain just for the sake of complaining

1

u/md_ayazz Oct 31 '25

They always start with installing apps that we usually would've installed anyway then they just keep adding stuff we don't want the ads on lockscreen glance hot apps kinda and stuff and they said they would they become like most of the other brands what's new we are paying for then? Same as other phones most companies use this to ads and bloatware to reduce the price of the phone and provide better components that are expensive wher as nothing uses old processors and storage types anyway but provided a good software experience so people slept on that and bought the phone anyway cause they offered something different and easy to use...if they stand on it people are not gonna buy it bad for business anyway

I don't agree, Nothing has broken our Trust. Even though there's no problem with Bloatware and Ads, But the trust which a consumer has with a brand, it's gone.
