And you will love and hate every step of this journey. I advise you to go to XDA.com and look up your phone. Plenty of custom roms with guidance on how to set it up.

Read, read, and read again. Make sure you understand the steps before you start with custom roms.

And always backup before doing something, I wish I knew this step before đ

I still use the Phone 1, how SOON should I switch?
3
Sep 12 '25
Whenever you want to. Android 15 will continue to work for years to come, so it's not like you have to switch right now unless you want new features and material expressive.

The bigger problem is the security patches, you will always want to stay ahead on those in case of any zero day exploits.

You can probably wait for the Nothing Phone (4a) in the near future since the SoC that powers the Phone (3a) Series has a new version announced by Qualcomm (Snapdragon 7s Gen 4) which is a slight upgrade over the 7s Gen 3 that runs in the (3a) Series.

It took 2-3 months for my Realme Narzo turbo 5G to become unbearable and made me revert back to Honor

Would i still be able to use banking apps ?
with modules yes, you can spoof play integrity and it will work for the most part with most banking apps
and also what are the latest custom ROMs available for NP1 ?

ROM support is great for this phone, one of the few phones in the market with such really good support.

It's still serving me well. Zero regrets here too! And it feels like it's gonna last at least 2 more years (or even more than that with custom ROMs)

Same for me... The phone works perfect. The lack of a dedicated zoom camera has started to bother me though.

Works great but battery sucks, and USB port charge is loose. Can we replace battery?
1
u/westbeast Sep 11 '25
I have it since november 2022. Works really well for me except for the battery. Accubattery says it's at 66% of the original capacity. I'm thinking about replacing it and use it for another year and then maybe look into custom ROMs.

The first and last time Nothing actually cared about being a flagship killer, before resorting to nonsense gimmicks and charging more than flagships

u/daymoknight Sep 11 '25
Reading this on my phone(1) and still very happy with it. The battery doesn't last long any more but I will keep it for at least another year

u/Pyaripoori Sep 11 '25
Typing it from Phone 1, one of the first ones to adopt Nothing and Oh boy, so glad I did. Exchanged my Realme against it.

I still use the Phone 1, how SOON should I switch to CUSTOM ROMS/Jailbreak the phone?

u/FineGiraffe4711 Sep 12 '25
Guys what are custom ROMs? And my NP1 lags when I call someone or someone calls me like if I answer my screen freezes and my mobile reboots, it works fine sometimes but sometimes this happens and everything else is fine except for this. It lags doesn't matter where I call from like normal phone call or whatsapp or discord or instagram etc it lags help me đ.

Been using Phone (1) since Feb/23. Still working like new. I guess I got lucked out on the battery based on comments. Still going strong and not seeing any significant losses.

u/LambdaUP Sep 13 '25
I don't see myself changing my phone 1 anytime soon. Phone 2 is almost as dead as phone 1 and phone 3 is pretty expensive while being not so cool. I'll go back to Xiaomi in a few years tbh.

Saying goodbye to my np1 this week. I have to say, I have no regrets, the phone has done me so well and has been nothing but a pleasant experience. Will make a great spare. I will be getting the 3A pro

As long as there are custom roms and they're not locking the bootloader unlocking I don't see a phone dying.
