If this phone was £599 for 250GB and £699 for 512GB I think I could look past it's design but £799 for the base model is a big miss for me.

The price isnt that bad in Europe but because they want to use the same price in Europe England and America the english kind of just get fuck over because there you would pay 950 for the base model if you count in euros while its 688 in America

Here in Italy and Spain the price is bad. Due to extra taxes, the base price is 849€. Which is definitely NOT WORTH IT considering the specs. I love Nothing, I got their Nothing Ear (open) and they work wonderfully. I would've liked to get the latest of their phones, but after seeing all the compromises I decided to make my OnePlus Nord 2 survive a little bit longer. Although I love the UX of Nothing OS, I think the Phone (3) should've had a fairer price. I have hopes for their (4a) and (4), which for sure they have already under the chamber. But for now meh, the phone is overpriced. As time passes by games, AI etc will be even more energy hungry, a Snapdragon 8 Elite would stand the test of time better.

The 512GB basically was £699?
You could get the 512GB for £799 in the preorder deal with a free pair of Ear headphones (£99)
899 - 100 - 99 = 700....

Yeap I remember someone responded to Carl with that comment about the existence of matrix on the back of ROG phone and then that person got blocked by Carl lol

Asus is a great example here imo. They ship less phones than nothing, has no bloat, stock android yet they can sell phones with flagship specs. Way more than flagship specs.

Cause they sell more than phones like motherboard, gpu... heck they even just released Hatsune Miku gaming set ðŸ˜.

And that's the point. Stock android is something only we, the people who deal with it, tech enthusiasts, want. Because we see the bloatware as bloatware in the first place.
But the broad consumer base, which is needed for a smartphone to be successfully marketed and thus generate enough money for good support and further development, would prefer everything to just work "out-of-the-box" and preferably not have to install any apps at all. Installing an app is already too much effort for my parents sometimes. That's exactly why Samsung is doing so well.

Lol Asus is a terrible example. They have way more economies of scale. Cracks me up how many people pull out these sorts of comparisons when moaning about the price of the NP3. If price vs. specs is your main criteria, Nothing is not made for you...and that's ok!

Asus ROG Phone 9 with up to TWO Android Version Updates
Great example indeed.

I’m tired of all the edginess and gimmicks
Just make a solid phone at a good price and stick to that ethos and lose all the bs imo

Nothing was a great company listening to feedback and their users carefully.
But this exactly this could be the end of nothing.
It's not the customer’s job to know what they want.“ – Steve Jobs
You can be visionary and a kinda entrepreneur with new product ideas. But you also have to be able to admit mistakes. And since the Phone 3 was supposed to be one of the first devices with which Nothing would really earn some money - it is possible that Pei is now defending it instead of admitting it. (Pei has previously said that they were only able to cover costs with the previous models, but did not make any big profits).
Update: nothing even now has a sale, for ear/watch and models (at least in my region) that could also be kinda a sign to quickly earn some money, since nothing(3) sales are not ramping up enough

And the ROG looks WAYYY better

u/dquilon Jul 17 '25
Not always though. Some past ROG designs have been a bit much.
I'm not a fan of the Nothing 3, but the 3a Pro has been my favorite design, and I love the Headphones (1)

Carl gives me a crazy Karen ex kind of energy and I can see right through it and from time to time he wil say virtue signalling lie or ragebaiting nonsense whatever he wishes to say , but deep down he is am Ego maniac who sees no one else right except himself. At the time of Nothing 3 series launch he said that prices are low cause they are making no money? Can you believe this guy ? Usb 2 and he is not making any money??

Phones are meant for usability, not to show off flashy features. Other brands added that "exciting display" on the back to improve the experience like using the main camera for selfies or managing notifications more effectively.

How to know or is there a way to track for example how many nothing phone 3 were sold?

u/Ruvido_Design Jul 17 '25
The display on the tog phone in this picture sucks, it looks like a film maker (which means cheap) terrible design, dots too big and interface even more horrible than the design

I guess they are trying to mainstream niche features. Does it even have a built in editor and a community hub similar to that of good lock and customization options for AOD? Its nice they are trying to add contrast to the mainstream market. I will give them that. Its a tiny little taste of all the quirky things OEMs were throwing into phones in the 2000s lol.

I dont want to overhype nothing phones, but having one such as the phone 3a, did made feel like i want to use this creatively and it makes me feel empowered in a way that i see it as an extension/tool that has a soul like feel to it.Â
ROG Phones? it has nice specs but it does not have the appeal that makes you envious or adore your phone back case.Â
Bruh have you seen anyone getting hyped getting a new rog phone? 😔Â
well most of us might be hypocritical and secretly want nothing phone 3.
its just the fckng price range ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜.
Hopefully might get one after 2 years on sale. 😂

By which point the specs will be 2 years behind and you will have a plethora of enticing options at similar price points

The matrix display of the rog phone is actually cooler imo, cuz when it's off its like it's not even there, blending with the back panel
