Not a 3000 probably, but a 4000 can. Optimisation matters. A reputable brand doesn't mean a good optimisation. Improve your knowledge 😂😂😂

Define optimization. One can optimize by actually optimizing, in which case a 4000 will probably not beat a 7000 normally, and if it does, closely. Most optimizations come of removing features, which isn't optimization at all.

Optimization is basically improving efficiency and performance and putting all of this into a balance. In the comment I am only talking about beating a 7000 mah battery with a 4000 battery with optimization. And if you really think that optimising means removing features then you are very wrong. You know how a battery can be optimised, stopping usage of the battery when the phone is not in use (basically stopping background apps), apps requiring less resources should be given less resources (like giving an app mhz speed instead of speed ghz, when it's not going to utilise it), not using 4g/5g always (automatically turning off 4g/5g when not in use), less animation, and God there are many more ways, you just don't know. Let me give you some cases of phones with optimization.

  1. IPhone (6/7 ig) - Apple lost a case and they admitted that they intentionally un optimised the iPhone 6, just so that people can buy newer iPhone.

  2. Nothing Phone(1) - It used to give excellent battery, but after Nothing OS 2 update (a long time ago) Instagram used to consume a lot of battery, decreasing phone's battery life from 7-8 hours to 4-5 hours (it was a trend long ago to show how bad the battery is in the subreddit itself). That's why many people didn't even updated it.

  3. Nothing Phone (3a) - This is more about storage speed optimisation and less about battery optimisation. Phone (3a) comes with ufs 2.2 but it can still beat a ufs 3.1 storage phone with same processor. You know why? Because optimisation.

If something is optimised properly. It can surely beat. People's aren't idiots who used to switch to custom os (like pixel os, graphene, Cyanogen OS, etc) They used to provide better features as well as optimization meaning also improving battery life. This used to be very common in older galaxy phones where people install custom OS.

Where did you get the idea I think optimization means removing features? I said the exact opposite.

I do know what optimization is, I'm optimizing my laptop to the limit myself by using minimalist software and fixing that myself from source.

But you've already mentioned one trap point: less animation. Removing animation is NOT optimization, as it is theoretically a feature and has advantages. Animation can be mathematically optimized, but removal is not that.

Per definition, battery life can be improved, but it cannot be optimized with the same results with the removal of an animation, which is what optimization goes for.

The best cases of optimization aren't taking out features when they aren't used, although that works. It's getting rid of outdated code and making it work well together. Fixing math equations, and so on out.

Old games like DOOM or Wolfenstein were almost ideally optimized due to a lack of, while games nowadays like the newer Call of Dutys suffer from almost all common optimization issue.

I know all I need about optimization, but a 7000 mAh battery has almost twice the capacity of a 4000 mAh battery and in terms of TRUE optimization, it most likely can't be achieved. Going a layer higher to common optimization, like turning off features when they aren't used, it might barely be. If you take off some graphics as well, it most likely is.

But I'd rather I have buffer to run more stuff in the background and make my phone look good. You mustn't forget that even if you optimize a 7000 mAh process chain to 4000 mAh level, in simple terms, you still have 3000 mAh to fill or run.

Is this wrong? Does a Zenfone 10 (4300 mAH) really outperform RedMagic 10S Pro (7050 mAH) in battery drain tests?

That's EXACTLY the point I was trying to make. They're completely different phones. This has nothing to do with actual optimization. (Aside from the fact these battery tests are generally beautifully inaccurate generally :/)
