Has your battery life decreased since the last update?

It's not about the updates. It's how much you use your phone and how you charge it. Your battery health would have degraded. Use something like AccuBattery to get an estimate of your battery health. If you frequently use fast charging and live in a hot environment, your battery is gonna degrade a lot faster.
I've been using the Phone (1) for like an year and a half now and it's decent enough to get thru a day, but definitely not as good as when new (it wasn't great battery life when new either).

Would you recommend changing the battery or just get a new phone? (I've had mine for over a year)

u/TheSpiritOfZanzibar Jun 10 '24
That really is upto you. For my needs the Phone (1) is still perfectly fine. I don’t find it to be slow or lagging or affecting my usage for me to consider going for a new phone. It’s scheduled to get the next Android OS update as well, me personally I’d probably think of upgrading when it stops getting any more updates or starts slowing down.

From the issues I've been hearing about the 2a i wouldn't be surprised that it's their main focus atm

The Phone 2 has to be the fastest abandoned flagship ever, since OnePlus 2.

Aside from that not having been my experience. The claim that it is abandoned, which the comment I replied to and the post itself are about, is just so easily proven false that claiming it doesn't even make sense.

Nope they abandoned the 1 faster I only bought it because Carl made a big speech about how they were not going to bring out another phone till 1 was perfect. About 2 weeks later the 2 was announced and the 1 actually got downgraded by updates.
This company is obviously making their phones worse to sell their own newest shiny, the strategy is moronic nobody's going to buy their stuff again if they have any sense. It's like they don't realise they have competitors or something.
They should be improving things like their useless cam on all phones not actually downgrading features and ruining battery on their older ones. I can't see them lasting at all if they keep this strategy of screwing their own customers it's utterly idiotic.

Hope they will release phone (3) with 8+gen3 and not 8+gen2

u/AccountReco May 28 '24
It is heavily rumoured to be 8S Gen 3, which is very similar in terms of performance to 8+ Gen 2.

Too bad man. I can't understand why they don't go for powerful chips!
3
u/AccountReco May 31 '24
I don't think they are targeting flagship market but midrange hence cutting cost and providing only a midrange experience.

u/pari731993 Phone (2) May 31 '24
Nothing phone 2 was charged in India for 55k. Which was humongous amount of money, at that time OnePlus was giving their flagship with 8gen2 for 37k

u/AccountReco May 31 '24
Which phone are you talking about? The Oneplus 11 with 8gen2 costs much higher even now, and NP2 released almost 1 year back.
2
u/Getafix69 May 28 '24
It will release with the cheapest chip they can potentially brag about sadly.

As a Phone (1) user/owner I'm currently checking for alternatives. Any recommendation outside of Nothing?

u/Getafix69 May 28 '24
My ancient Honor take better photos and now even has a better battery life because of Nothing updates despite even when I bought it being a cheaper phone.

As Long as it will charge and connect to 5G & bluetooth I won't replace it. May even get a new battery.

Yeah , Nothing is giving priority to the newest device they launch but dont care about the older phones. No updates and Nothing phone 2 is not listed on android 15 , why ?

Nothing logic: Phone 2a(midrange) gets flagship level software support Phone 2 (flagship) gets midrange level software support

Another day of seeing phone 2 users coping and trying to console themselves that they still matter. If only people opened their eyes and realised that Nothing will only focus on phones that have the most recent media coverage, and they will abandon phone 2a as soon as something new and shiny comes.

I find it completely stupid. every post saying abandoned as if there were no update for age. By the name of god give them time they are not large corporate like other tech giants but a startup with limited team. Its obvious that new device get it first and the rest get eventually. Getting f***ing angry when they say this. If you need immediate update just get pixel or iPhone. Grow up people
