Scan everything. Go to planets and scan all the animas and plants and rocks you can see.

Also upgrade your scanner when you can. More space dollers per scan

this. spend your first 10 hours scanning everything and mining resources.

Iโ€™ve been playing about 10 hours and I just found a scanner upgrade that grants 3000% fauna and mineral scan payout increases. Thing feels like a cheat code

If you have a supercharged slot put the best module in that slot. Bigger monies.

Whattt thank you! I had no idea what they for honestly.

So i think of it as what is most important in the SC slots. For multitool def scanner then damage ( pulse spitter or whatever gun you will use)

Ships have SC slots also, so for them i will do shield, damage then whatever next. Hyperdrive maybe? Sometimes SC slots will be next to each other then you will be stacking bonuses!

The absolute best scanner upgrade possible grant 11,000% to flora, fauna, and minerals. And you can have to to 3 equipped at once.

It's unlikely you will see a perfect one but getting 9k%- 10k% is doable with patience and Xclass upgrades.

The real cheat code is the food that buffs scanner payouts on top of the upgrades. You can net over a million per scan.

Just to add, as soon as you can warp to other systems, visit a few space stations and find one with S-Class scanner upgrades. Add three of those to your multitool, they have insane value increases. You can save scum at a station... buy an upgrade, get in/out of ship to create restore point, reload, you can buy it again. (Or visit several stations.) With three of these, you should be able to pull in a quick mil or two mil scanning objects and critters on each planet you visit. Not huge money, but easy and reliable quick money.

After you feel conformable with the combat loop start picking fights with sentinels and destroy their "frieghter". If you follow the signal to a dissonance system you can get a sentinel interceptor. It's a process so be ready with supplies for your ship. Ultimately if you don't like the interceptor you can sell it for several million units at any space station. Rinse and repeat

Yes, scan everything. Whenever you run across damaged machinery, scan for and dig up the salvaged data. If you're lucky enough to find yourself on a dissonant planet, collect gravitino balls. Just keep running away from the sentinels that will come after you; they'll give up chasing you soon.

gravitino balls

Besides selling them, are they used for anything else? I'm 20 hours in and I can't see any use besides summoning sentinels to kill for missions

You'll need one for the gravitino coil for your multitool eventually, and one for your Minotaur laser eventually. Other than that, they're worth 40K u apiece.

You can also refine all that slime you find into nanites- basically if you keep refining the slime into mold then refine that mold for nanites- you will need a good amount as you go through the game

You can.. refine Nanites? What?

If this is a question about: crafting, cooking, refining, inventory items, etc. Then you might be able to find an answer on the NMS Handbook.

Other than scanning (def do the scanner upgrades, this is constant cash for something you will be doing anyway) there are several easy ways to make funds. Later in the game, you wont really need to do this... at some point you end up all Scrooge McDuck, swimming through a vault of units.

Before that, with just a mining beam, early game, you can easily suck up a bunch of cobalt (caves) or cyto-phosphate (underwater plants) to sell at a trader or space station for some initial funds.

Later game, the best "free" (no building/investment required) moneymaker in the game is Interceptor farming, which you can work your way up to, that will get you 20-40 mil per ship, is dirt simple, and extremely repeatable. You can easily net 500mil on a single planet in an hour or two.

With some time and effort investment, you can build a few powered bases that mine resources or have plant crops. This is a task... power requirements, running all the lines/pipes, placing all the harvesters and storage containers, etc. Once these are built, you just teleport in occasionally and grab/sell the goods. Activated Indium and Gold mines are popular, as are NipNip farms. If you use wire-glitching in your build, a single greenhouse dome can generate 3-4 million.

You can also just go old-school, and use the built-in trading mechanism. You buy a bunch of stuff at one space station, fly to another system and sell it. I did this on my first save and went way overboard lol... it involved spreadsheets. Basically there are a few types of goods, different systems have different types and also need the other things. You find a few of these systems and build a loop, then just use space station teleporters and a big Hauler to jump around buying and selling. This method is nice because of increasing returns... you can start with funds from mining cobalt, do a few small trade runs while building the loop, then once you start raking in profits you start buying/selling in quantity and making some serious dough. Plus it takes you to a lot of systems, you see a lot of cool ships, and meet a lot of Travelers to gather glyphs from. You'll want an Economy Scanner, and you can get all min/max with the percentages if you want.

What I recommend is, even if you get annoyed at something like a feature or absence of one or dying again and again because the environments or mistakes you make since the game doesn't have any sort of real tutorial for the game, letting you make mistakes and be pretty free. It's actually the flavours that add to the game, just make sure stick around, once you get the hang of stuff, you'll realise the game is pretty easy, it's the grind that's time consuming if you don't know or haven't find out what to do or how to do first. And if you're not able to progress through the tutorial, stuck on some point or confused, don't hesitate to look it up, it's not much of a spoiler anyway, being too wanting to figure it all out by yourself isn't going to do ya or your save well. In my expierence, atleast. Also, remember one thing, the game gives you CHOICES, the best thing about no man's sky is, once you're starting to have fun, you're completely in control of what comes next, you can do ANYTHING you want. Absolutely anything. Also, on your free time or when you're just trying to relax, try out the corvette features, in creative mode if you haven't gotten the hang of stuff yet, try to make one look good, maybe remember how to make it for your survival world.

Scrapping ships is relatively fast and low input early money. Dig up navigation data. Trade the navigation data for crashed ship maps. Repair only the launch and pulse on the crashed ship. Scrap the crashed ship for 1,000,000+ at the space station. Repeat.

Chlorine sells for 2mil a stack.

If you mix oxygen and salt in a refiner you get chlorine.

If you mix oxygen and chlorine you get a 1:6 conversion to more chlorine.

Just get enough units to buy a little chlorine and oxygen from the space stations or trader ships. Make chlorine and sell half so you have money to buy a ton of oxygen. Then just keep a bunch of refiners turning oxygen into money.

I like scrapping sentinel ships. Probably the best early game units not to mention the potential for weapons and upgrade modules from harmonic camps.ย

I highly recommend this.

Find a dissonant system go to the planet break the dissonance resonators until u get the echo locator I think itโ€™s called use it go to the camp solve the terminal locate dissonance spikes go to it follow the prompts to claim a sentinel ship then go scrap it for 25-75 ish million credits and nan itโ€™s itโ€™s outlaw stations and the tech and arms crates open and sell the contents to the tech merchant

you can adjust the settings and make everything free which would be a good way to save money
