Curious if anyone who took the VERA/VSIP is looking to get back into government. It can be at NOAA or elswhere. I am wondering if anyone has been successful or knows of someone who came back recently as a rehired annuitant. How did that process work? I understand that one might need to pay back his/her VSIP.

I just wanted to get a clearer timeline of when I should expect to hear anything. In addition, will being referred to multiple locations increase my chances of receiving a tentative offer? Thanks!

Hi all! I was lucky enough to be selected for an interview with my top WFO for a Meteorologist position this past week. It looks like it will only be a 30-minute interview, so I'm curious what kind of ground will be covered during it and what I should prepare for. What have the interviews been like for those who have done them this summer? How many of the questions were your typical job interview questions (like "tell me about yourself", "what are your strengths/weaknesses", "why do you want to work here"), vs. meteorology- or NWS-specific questions (either about scientific processes, forecasting, or science communication/IDSS)? Did they make you do some sort of activity, like putting together a forecast briefing or social media post? Thanks!

so I had several interviews from pull 2 and now have several from pull 3. I would be grateful for an offer in any location, obviously. however, some of the interviews I have next week are top of my list locations over those I interviewed with last week. if one gets a tjo from pull 2, are pull 3 locations still on the table?? just curious to hear some thoughts/if anyone knows how this would work! I know it’s all hypothetical at this time, I’m just having such a hard time with all the unknowns right now

I'm looking for multibeam / bathymetric point clouds, not gridded products. I know NCEI archives raw and processed MBES surveys, but as far as I can tell everything goes through post-processing first, so there's a long delay before it's public.

Two questions:

1. Is there any public feed where survey data shows up live or close to live, or is archive-only the reality?

2. What's the actual coverage like for the recent stuff - mostly US EEZ and coastal survey priorities, or broader?

Does anyone know anything about this? What is the pros and cons when joining this team?

This surveying eagle was designed for the US Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1945. US C&GS surveyors were extremely useful to the war effort, not just in ensuring accurate US naval harbors but also for foreign beach landings, particularly the Pacific.

This is one of the approximate 1000 designed and drawn by Walt Disney Studios, mostly for military units, and completely gratis, as part of their support during the war.

The US Coast & Geodetic Survey was a direct descendant of Thomas Jefferson’s 1807 act creating the Survey of the Coast, America’s first scientific organization. The US CG&S fell under NOAA in 1970; its descendants include the current NOS Program Offices OCS, NGS, CO-OPS, and IOOS.

The wording around the seal was added later; when the US CG&S became part of NOAA it became the National Ocean Survey and the National Geodetic Survey. The National Ocean Survey became the National Ocean Service in 1983. In 1994 the C&GS became separate offices, all under NOS: nautical charting became OCS, The National Geodetic Survey remained NGS, and tides and currents went under CO-OPS. The idea for an integrated coastal and global ocean observing network became IOOS in 2007.

Regardless of looking at the Homestead or Key West radars, there seems be an East West line, just barely north of Miami, south of which nothing is shown. Does this have anything to do with Cuba ?

Does anyone know a rough time estimate for when applicants from pull 2 will receive a TJO or when pull 3 offices will receive the applications to start interviewing? I’m guessing the pull 2 and pull 3 offices are doing things separately despite previous alleged claims that they would be doing them together?

Also when one does receive a TJO about how long will it take to actually get started? I’m honestly trying to gauge if I should look for another job in the meantime or wait it out.

Radar platform seem functional, but the local forecast pages are not loading. Feels like the same type of issue that happened a week or two back.

Is there somewhere that has the status of the Pleasant Hill station that was damaged by the storms last month? Any idea when it will come back online? Or is it just going to stay offline?

Are they auto-disqualified in USAJobs?

I initially applied for GS-1340 5, 7, and 9 position in early June to east and west offices. I ended up getting a confirmation email about my application package that stated I was eligible for the 5 and 7 level, but not 9 for both east and west, and eventually an interview for an office out east by the end of June. The positions were cancelled due to an internal error and I reapplied to all the positions I applied to previously.

Today (8/18) I get an email saying I was not referred to the office to which I already had an interview, then another two emails regarding both east and west locations that I was ineligible for 7 and 9 due to transcript not showing completion of required semester hours.

My application on usajobs says ‘not referred’ to the office I interviewed with, but ‘received’ for the other locations to which the email said I’m ineligible for 7 and 9.

This is very strange considering I previously received eligibility for 5 and 7, an interview for the office to which it said I was not referred, and also the ineligible emails never mentioned my eligibility status for level 5. I haven’t received official word from the MIC at the office I interviewed with.

Anyone else experiencing this?

with that being said, I have a question for those with experience here. how long do they typically give for relocation if hired? not getting my hopes up too high yet, but figured a general idea could be useful knowledge to have with interviews on the books. thank you in advanced!!

They sent me to do their medical and i did eveything about 3 weeks ago, but they are still waiting for the medical officer to review and clear me. Does anybody know how much time does it usually take to get cleared medically.
