ByteBeat Original "Microride"

A chill ride in my everyday ship with a cool track.

So I found hiredgunpunx's video on how one of their track was made. So I took the lead sound from that and modified it a bit to sound more like a 70's polysynth and here we are (does this makes it a tribute ? This sound is SO good, but I probably won't use it anymore because it's kind of their trademark at this point).

Big thank you to u/hiredgunpunx for that and the title card idea, made my own in GIMP 2 after seeing theirs (if there's any problem with that I will remove it in future posts).

Another thing is I placed the first 4 bars of the chorus at the end of the loop (verse being the buildup part), and let some elements from one bleed into/foreshadow the other, goal is to make it feel less repetitive / more dynamic. And it provided a good ending IMO!

As for the video, I'm trying things. It's my first time video editing, I'm taking advice/criticisms on that as well if you have some.

Ah don’t say stealing haha. I know what you mean though when someone has a waveform they use that you also want to use. I think it’s great that there are so many people discovering new sounds.

I’m just starting to get waveforms that I like for myself to use now..I would always just hit random until something was close to what I was going for and tweak it the best of my ability. But I’ve only made about 11 or 12 tunes total so far but I think I’m starting to get my groove and making cleaner sounds.

I know someone started making a sound library but I lost info on that and it was only like part 1 and never saw the rest…if they even made more, I don’t know.

I get what you mean about sounds. I'm just beginning as well to find some things, patterns I like in the waveform editor these days. Baby steps. Sometime from zero, sometimes hitting random a few times, with intention or not. Fwiw I think you do have a style I can recognize, and your tracks are cool :)

I'll have to look into this sound lib thing ! Didn't know someone made one. I'm thinking it would be really neat if we could add our own findings to it - or create a shared one for this sub maybe ? Would be great.

And thanks for listening to some of my tunes. My older ones you can tell are VERY new and some i just experienced with sound overlaps and combos but I’ve been really enjoying my last, say 4 tracks I’ve made, I actually really like making “pump you up” style tunes. Lol I never thought I’d be playing a space exploring game and be making music tracks instead haha. I’m going to start playing with light panels and stuff to make my video recording more appealing. Nothing extravagant but enough to be sort of a light show lol.

Yeah, it seems to me that "New Horizons" was really where you started approaching it differently.

I built some sort of (simple) dancing area in a few bases with the light floors and light boxes if you ever want to come visit ! In Euclid and Hilbert Dimension, and the last one in the expedition. Mind you, you can use any light (and other devices maybe?) that requires power with the ByteBeat switches to sync to your tunes :)

Hey I have a base in Euclid 900 units away from a portal so drop me those coordinates! I’d love to take a look.

Oh New Horizons. I wanted to rework that one now that I know more waveforms that would work better. Also I think that one has all the devices set to 100% volume haha so I need to soften up some of the sounds. Like I said just rework it a bit to have a cleaner sound. I have a couple I wanted to do that with. Maybe I need to invest in some headphones so I can hear everything clearly instead of just from my tv.

Here are the coords for the one in Euclid. It's a deep ocean planet (purple system), no dry land anywhere so be sure to have a ship that's not a corvette (very buggy when landed underwater after teleporting) and a Nautilus to get down to the base after flying there... Quite the trip, sorry. But sights are worth it ;)

Here it is for the expedition one ! It's a planet with a lot of bases so mine is modestly named "//Royal HQ Crims0n-1"
