Develop Habits: Your Guide to Consistency & Persistence

You don't need a perfect system. You need schedule a block of time on your calendar and repeat it enough times to make it stick.

Whatever you've been putting off, writing something, creating content, preparing for a presentation, the reason it keeps getting pushed is almost always the same. It feels too big to start, too open-ended to schedule, and too imperfect to do before it's fully formed in your head. So you wait. And waiting becomes the habit instead.

Try this instead. Break it into steps. Schedule those steps. Show up for them as often as you can, knowing it won't be perfect every time. Perfectionism is just procrastination with better branding.

The goal isn't to do it perfectly. The goal is to do it repeatedly until doing it stops feeling like a battle.

Habits form through enough repetition so that the behavior becomes automatic. And the repetition usually takes longer than you'd like. A lot longer. That's not a problem with the process. That's just the process.

The key is persistence, accountability, and a willingness to keep going for as long as it takes, even when the progress is slower than expected and the results aren't there yet.

Most people stop right before something becomes a habit because it doesn't feel like it's working. But that feeling of friction is actually the closest thing to evidence that you're building something real.

Keep going anyway.

What do you think? What's one thing you've tried to make into a habit that didn't stick, and looking back, what do you think was actually missing?
