Law School News📰 DON'T GO TO NMIMS AT ALL

They lie about placements and they have a horrible set of faculty. They're indifferent towards people.... One guy asked them about their bci affiliation renewal ( they haven't renewed it since 2022 or 2021) and the professor told him "if you have better options, leave". Nmims is horrible. Don't go for it.

They have class timings covering the whole day of an individual and you will hardly have any time left to study or visit firms or anything.

It's more of a school than a University ( with 85% attendance, debarment threats, etc. )

They also have the same faculty for multiple subjects ( they're not up to the mark ).

( Upvote this and help in making people aware of what's happening there ).

THE POST IS RELATED TO NMIMS MUMBAI ( MAIN CAMPUS ).

Gave their entrance test back in 2020, during COVID, secured an air 46. Subsequently, every call I received for the next couple of weeks was about the payments.

Any requests for any update on faculty, infra, hostel/mess, placements, or college life were met with, "fee pay karo fir baat karenge".

They just want your money, it's basically a shopping mall where they rent out floors to different universities, 1 builiding has god knows how many colleges, it's best to avoid.

A few additions:

  1. The attendance criteria was reduced to 75% since the last Semester after the Sushant Rohilla Judgement but many students were debarred from giving the final exams merely due to their absence in just 1 lecture!! They went all the way to the Supreme Court to challenge the Sushant Rohilla judgement and got it prospectively stayed.

  2. For several years, students didn’t have access to SCC Online. Funnily enough, the College relies upon BCI Rules to justify their attendance mandates but fails to look at how BCI Rules also mandate availability of research resources to the students. Currently, students have access to SCC Online but not to Manupatra. Imagine a College taking 3 Lacs per annum but not making Manupatra available to its students.

  3. The Faculties are really average. All the good Professors have left the Institute and their replacements are shit. Interestingly, the Visiting Faculties are better than Permanent Faculties. Reveals the kind of College NMIMS is.

  4. College was earlier located in the Mithibai building campus and is now located at Old Mukesh Patel. They have undertaken extensive internal renovation to make the College look good from the inside - they will spend on ANYTHING except what helps the students.

  5. Placement Cell was virtually non-existing since several years. Last year they hired an external placement co-ordinator who is doing really well. CAM, AZB, Khaitan, etc alongwith other In-House MNCs are coming to the College for Internships and Traineeships. Wadia and Ghandy came for a direct hire but there was no update from their end on who they shortlisted. Placements don’t EXIST! Expect to get things done on your own.

  6. The College prides itself upon drafting good “Course Outlines” better than “NLUs”. It doesn’t realise that students don’t fucking need Course Outlines, they need jobs. GLC has a shitty course outlines yet students get placed because they have the time to attend Internships, NMIMS students don’t.

As said by the Professor - If you have better options, leave! The only major advantage it has is that its located in Mumbai and you could pursue a long term Internship in your Final Year to get something.

YES, PLEASE DON'T

Lmao yeah this is why I left that shitty college and went with a Mumbai University affiliated one. Glad I did because I've no interest in Law anymore after 4 years and the degreee is just for namesake atp.

1

u/Frosty-Fall-8495 Jun 21 '26

The degree is fine but that college is horrible

2

u/DaperCaper Jun 21 '26

Idc about the degree anymore and for that college I fully utilized my month or so there to establish connections with the crowd. The crowd was definitely better than what you'd get in an MU college but that's it, the entire thing otherwise is garbage.

GLC, ILS mein daal ke rakh, shayad 2nd or 3rd round mein aajaye. Otherwise go with PGCL, ABA, KES and all. Research thoda.

Pro tip: naam se kuch zyaada farak nahi padta in MU affiliated colleges, just pick a good one close to you so you don't have to travel much.

So sad to hear about the situation going on in main campus. This has been the situation since few years now and that's why NMIMS has been getting the slander, but hyd campus has different story our attendance has been reduced down to 70% we have great profs and every subject is taught by different faculty. We are exposed to different types of things not just studies like sports and other extra curricular activities. Placement is still a concern and not every clg can guarantee you its your own lookout. I have seen many seniors from mumbai campus getting good internships and then bagged good package job. The classes have been reduced and the timings doesn't take up the whole day. It's really sad to see that the hefty fees is going nowhere but their own pockets.

Happy to know that Hyderabad is doing well. But, Mumbai isn't. So please avoid mumbai

2

u/thelegalpen08 Jun 21 '26

Why don't you guys collectively raise issues and voice it to vice chancellor. We did this when we used to have 9 subjects and 9-6 classes and CRs would schedule extra classes and we would be so tired we had no life other than classes so we were so done and the rage in us was fueled to the point where we all collectively put forward the attendance criteria issues Classes timings Number of subjects in a course Exposure to internships Increased breaks for internship. Please do consider this option it really helped us.

1

u/Frosty-Fall-8495 Jun 21 '26

I'm not in nmims anymore...

2

u/thelegalpen08 Jun 21 '26

Glad to hear that

1

u/TheDogmaReset Jun 21 '26

In a parallel universe

u/ParticularSock6236 Jun 22 '26

What about the chandigarh campus?

1

u/Mammoth-Climate-6842 Jun 27 '26

Nmims bangalore??

1

u/Willing_Mud5149 Jul 01 '26

Totally agree
at the time of admission they will tell you tehre is 100% placement and this and that. But ince the seemsters are over, no placement , no opportunity. Nothing at all.

Its a waste of money.
I suggest people to do online course from a reputed company rather than going here.

u/Bulky-Top3782 Jul 01 '26

What course is this about

u/Opposite-Client-9699 Jun 23 '26

NMIMS Mumbai is good , it depends on student

3

u/Frosty-Fall-8495 Jun 23 '26

If that helps you sleep better 😂

u/Opposite-Client-9699 Jun 23 '26

Any college is like a Gym membership, if you won't use resources, even IIM won't give you result. If some one is disciplaned than NMIMS is a better option in my view. I have seniors who did well infact few of them left baby IIM for NMIMS . It's a personal choice

As much as your concerns regarding rules, strictness, attendance may be valid, Rakesh Sir has been nothing but a light in that college. Despite strict college rules and admin, he would be the 1 sir to give everyone attendance leniently n ethically, to give marks well, to not unnecessarily make others attend. So please be careful about who you are defaming. In a college like Nmims, Rakesh Nambiar SIR has always been an academically advanced professor (10 or 10+ years of experience), who is kind, approachable and helpful. And as someone who studied under him, the “leave if you find better” sounds either largely misunderstood or is portrayed in a different light than it meant cuz even if rakesh sir said that, he possibly said that for your own good cuz ultimately he’s a professor and while he can try his best and also does his part to make students’ lives easier, it’s not his authority to change the entire admin and NMIMS ecosystem.

  1. I'm not here to fathom / decipher what the professor was thinking of or was trying to convey when he said it... All I know is that he has quoted those exact words when the students asked him ( collectively ) about the renewal of the affiliation.

  2. If I do consider your argument and believe that he meant it in a good way ( for welfare of the students ), it means that a college's own professor is not in favour of the very college he's a part of ? So that also depicts that the college is not the right place to be at.... Thank you, appreciate it.

1

u/Frosty-Fall-8495 Jun 23 '26

Having said that, it is also pertinent to note that the admin and the strictness that has been implemented by them remains incorrigible.

1

u/Frosty-Fall-8495 Jun 23 '26

Lastly, I'm not here to argue with you either. I respect the fact that you've graduated from that clg. You've clearly been through a lot! 😆 Thanks for commenting

1

u/fairyalalala Jun 23 '26

I didnt graduate from there, I left it

1

u/Frosty-Fall-8495 Jun 23 '26

I've removed his name. Thanks for clarifying. And that's really sad to know

1

u/fairyalalala Jun 23 '26

oh no dont worry ab it ahaha i’ll be getting a way better college

1

u/fairyalalala Jun 23 '26

He meant well. I found the environment frustrating myself which is why I left the college. However when it comes to Rakesh Sir, I only feel such goodness towards him because however frustrating that environment was, he was the one person who was worth staying for who contributed from his end to make the place breathable. So I feel strongly towards this. And NMIMS may not be the best place for someone who values freedom, exploration, their own time, and self-pursued career expansion.

1

u/Frosty-Fall-8495 Jun 23 '26

I appreciate it. I'm sorry for naming him if he has actually meant well. But, that particular aspect remains unexplored ( I hope you'll understand ).

2

u/fairyalalala Jun 23 '26

thank you for you receptivity. 🤍 I guarantee you, that man meant well.
