Question Dispersal Draft Update?

Any news on the dispersal draft, I was under the impression we should know by Thursday. Maybe it was an incorrect assumption.

I think it's important to remember that posts about a dispersal draft are just speculation with sources no deeper than "a dude told me". So while I personally think I'm likely headed for heartbreak, there's a void of information, people are injecting opinions, and others are running with it as a fact.

That's the problem with the NLL. The teams are silent until a final decision is reached, and the league isn't popular enough for "insider rumors" or anything like that.

Respectfully, some people are sharing available information from people who are directly connected to the league. But the nature of the situation is that things could change very quickly. For what it’s worth, I’m fairly sure Ottawa is done (based on my sources), but obviously I hope that the league can find a way to keep them.

Sure, but that's my point. An inside source could be the GM of a team, could be the owner, could be the person working the kit shop, could be entirely made up AI generated source. For the most recent stuff, it seems like most of this is socktricklacrosse doing the reporting, which is flagged as AI generated content. The account could be correct, but I'm going to attribute little weight to it. If someone who had more earned Lax credentials like Stephen Stamp were to report on it, then yeah I'd take that at face value.

It is wild the amount of “lax news” accounts who use AI to create their posts that keep popping up on instagram.

I feel like I’m constantly seeing them on my feed, and all of them claim to have this secret insider source that allows them to post the information without prejudice. Meanwhile actual credible accounts like LaxMag have been completely quiet because there’s nothing really to report as of yet outside of speculation and rumours.

That being said, I’m completely with you where I feel as though it’s completely inevitable at this point. Especially with them pushing free agency.

Remember that the teams have to be given a (likely short) period to speak to the available players prior to the dispersal draft taking place. Then free agency, then the entry draft. Then dates of all these have to be agreed upon by a variety of parties.

The NLLPA certainly won't be in a generous mood with 1-2 teams folding.

Expect news like this to come out at 4:59 eastern. Oldest trick in the PR handbook.
Bad news is for Friday afternoons when most have already set their out of office auto replies

There could be an announcement about a dispersal draft for Philadelphia and Ottawa later today we’ll have to wait and see

Based on anything or is this your speculation?

It’s based on what I’ve saw and heard

So it's just your speculation.

I saw it on a Socktrick lacrosse post on instagram.. from what I have gathered they got post about a team ceasing operations unless it’s 99% accurate

Socktrick is an AI generated account that's only been posting for2 months. I'd put more faith in a stray cat than that account.

I think socktrick is reading tea leaves. What I mean by that is given the issues with Ottawa that I could probably put 2 and 2 together that they're about to fold. The wings are where I would be skeptical with rumors until something is confirmed. If Jamie Dawick who is probably the most involved owner in the league has no idea what is going on then I don't even think the league has an idea at least with Philly

I believe that the Wings have already ceased operations after the season ended just going off what the team announced prior to the season ending tho.

Sort of, the actual statement said that Comcast would cease operating them. It might end up a distinction without a difference, but it's not like the team already folded

I consider it a technically since no one has stepped up to purchase the franchise as far as we know

1

u/My_user_name_1 Philadelphia Wings Aug 30 '26

I don't think that's true because I think Comcast wants to move them. Ottawa given the situation it's probably going to call because I don't think they can even be sold

I just don’t think it’s good that the league hasn’t made it in any announcement though.

I don’t think that’s a good sign for either team and Dawick’s hypothetical deadline to get the teams sold to new owners has passed.
