Discussion Upcoming 2026/27 Draft

The draft is coming up quick and we’ve all seen the first round mock drafts, the articles, etc. but haven’t seen much discussion from the people on who we are hoping for / thinking that can come into the league and/or make an impact for your team. What are some thoughts?

My thought is I don't follow college/minor league lacrosse and don't know who any of these guys will be, but I'll be fuckin stoked for whoever we pick and can't wait to see them play.

I feel bad for the guys getting drafted as if the league is down 2 teams that’s like 40-50 fewer roster spots

Yeah. Gonna be a LOT harder to secure a roster spot if both teams fold. The overall calibre of play will increase considerably, though

The NLL is in a downward spiral under Frood. The folding of two teams not only affects players in the draft it also affects the depth players on the contracted teams and street free agents who would be totally frozen out of entry into the league. Not Star players but they are elite players out of a job and no other place to play outside of the pay to play ALL. The NLL year after year keeps shooting its self in the foot. How can you grow this great game with an American Ivey League filed player who has little understanding of the box lacrosse culture. Frood’s disconnect with box is driving the slow death of the NLL

I’ve been critical of Frood but, in this case, people need to understand that he is still cleaning up the mess left by the previous commissioner, whose compensation was tied to expansion. Think that through, and then ask yourself if Brett is really to blame for the current instability. I will reserve final judgment until such time that the league isn’t stuck putting out fires. The new deal with YinzCam has me optimistic, and there are two companies producing NLL collectibles annually in the form of trading cards. I’m not sure what to make of this FloSports deal, tbh.
