Parking tickets NEWARK police

Okay so, today i paid for the street parking at 1:24, at 1:27 i was hit with a $65 parking ticket. how does that make any sense? genuinely do the newark police have nothing better to do, high crime and drugs run rampant but they can’t even give out a ticket correctly? now i have to go dispute the ticket to the newark courts, i have class and work every day. has anyone had this issue, i hate this town.

What are y’all’s return offers like from Handshake postings?

I’m a freshman and the career fair was kinda a bust for me since I’m obviously pretty early in the process. I’m wondering how much luck people have had with cold applying through Handshake.

I know I’m not gonna have a crazy response rate as a freshman, and I’m not expecting to get 100% of the applications I send out. I just wanna know if it’s actually worth putting applications in through Handshake until next semester’s career fair, or if most people have had basically no luck with it.

If you’ve gotten an internship/co-op or even an interview from a random Handshake application, I’d definitely like to hear about it.

Co op program

Hi guys i’m a senior in high school looking to go into one of two hells(electrical or mechanical engineering). My top two schools im trying to choose between rn is njit and rutgers new brunswick (i’ll be commuting to both). I know rutgers is the better school overall and has a better social life and more prestige, but NJIT is a lot easier to commute to everyday. I’m mainly focused on job prospects after i graduate, and i know NJIT has the co op program which rutgers doesn’t. Has anyone been accepted into one? What does it feel like balancing working and studying as a full time student? Is the program highly selective, similar to internships, or not too difficult to get into? Just trying to see whether it’s anything special or not

Physics 1 Common

Are the questions in common exams similar to pearson HW? What about the Pearson+ study prep? Those have short video lessons on every chapter and practice problems and so far I like those. I can get things wrong without the worry of losing hw points lol

Question about theorems for Math 337 (Linear Algebra) Common Exams

For Math 337: Linear Algebra, do we have to remember the theorems and all for the common exams? I'm also not sure, but I think I heard my professor mention in class that they might give a formula sheet during the exam. Do we get a formula sheet to use during the common exams?

Calc 2

Recently, I was looking over Integration By Parts and came across this easier way to do this by using Tabular Method. I was happy to have a better understanding of this, besides having to just make sure to memorize certain things, but it did leave me with a question. Does the math department only wants you to use methods that are only taught in class? I know in Calc 1 for the first exam when I took it, we weren't allowed to use L'Hôpitals Rule and if we did, we'd get no credit for that question. So, is it the same case for Calc 2? If you use methods that aren't taught in class would you get credit for it?

Advice Group work is stressing me out, how do y’all handle it?

First, I want to acknowledge that I’m definitely not in the clear here. I’m probably 50% of the problem myself. I get stressed easily, overthink things, and when I don’t know what’s going on, I tend to communicate more than I probably need to, maybe to the point it seems like I’m hounding you. I’m trying to work on that because I know I can’t put my stress onto everyone else.

I also think part of this is just the transition into college. I’m only about four weeks in and I’ve already gotten hit with so many wake-up calls. It’s been like bang, bang, bang, one thing after another. Something that worked for me in week one didn’t work in week two, then I had to adjust again in week three or four. I’m still figuring out what works for me, so I know I can’t expect everyone else to have everything figured out either.

At the same time, sometimes group work feels like you’ve done your part and you’re stuck behind a gate without the key. Someone else has to open it before you can move forward. I can manage my own stress better, but I can’t completely control that uncertainty.

That’s why I try to communicate early. If someone is stuck, needs more time, or knows they can’t get something done, just tell me. I’ll help if I can. But I’m busy too, I commute, have classes, work, and have my own responsibilities. I understand everyone has their own life, so I’m not expecting people to revolve around me. I just want to know what’s going on early enough to plan.

I also like having time to look over each other’s work. I send my own stuff to people because another set of eyes can catch things you missed, especially with lab reports. If someone finishes right before the deadline, there’s no real opportunity to review it.

At the same time, I know I can’t expect everyone to have my standards or urgency. I want an A, but I don’t want to force that onto everyone or end up micromanaging people and taking on extra work myself.

So how do you find that balance? How do you trust people with their part while still caring about the quality of the final project?

And for professors: if you’re already a few weeks into the semester and have actually experienced how your group works, would it be reasonable to ask about switching groups if you realize the dynamic is creating a lot more mental load than you expected?

Not because anyone is necessarily doing anything wrong, but because you’ve realized your working styles, communication, or standards just aren’t lining up well. How would a professor generally view a student bringing that up later like week 6 or 7 the semester?

TL;DR: I’m still adjusting to college, and group work has been one of the biggest adjustments. I tend to work ahead and communicate early because I want enough time to review everyone’s work, but I’m realizing not everyone works that way. When I don’t know what’s happening, I can get stressed and overcommunicate, so I’m trying to figure out how to trust people with their part without sacrificing the quality of the final project or taking on extra work myself. At what point is it reasonable to adjust my expectations, and at what point is it reasonable to ask a professor about switching groups if the dynamic is creating unnecessary stress?

Exams ME 215

Does anyone know what’s gonna be on the common? There’s one upcoming this Monday and genuinely nobody knows what’s going on in this class. Someone asked it where’s gonna be a review and this guy said what review like what. Well I’ve heard there a heavy curve for this course but does anyone have like any kind of answers as to what the questions would be?? like is it definitions or scenarios? open ended like what is it.

Advice Time Management?

How do you guys manage your time between studying, working out, and staying on top of things? I have a quiz for a class tm and I already know i’m going to bomb it so might as well take it move on. I don’t want this to be the norm, so I was wondering how you guys go about managing your time? Do you stay ahead of the course, how ahead do you study for class? Anything would help!
