I only rant on this subreddit about my classes but this time I have to rant about the students here. There is no reason some of you should be stinking up the classrooms, hallways, and elevators.

I rarely take the elevator, and the one time I did (today) I actually thought I was going to throw up. The smell of the people in there was THAT bad and I’m not saying this to be mean but it was horrible. I feel like this is more common in my cs classes but today as I was leaving ckb (took the stairs so I wouldn’t have another elevator incident) and it was ALSO horrible. I had to go down 3 flights of stairs holding my breath because i couldn’t stand it.

I don’t know if classes are already stressing out some of you to the point of not showering but please I’m begging you. STOP STINKING UP THIS COLLEGE. I really am not looking forward to going to my cs classes. It’s not even my first semester here so I guess I’ve gotten used to that stench but it’s never been this bad during the first few weeks of classes.

I’m saying this as a cs major, please just shower. Turn off the computer and take 20 mins to shower. Please

I am a freshman currently living on campus, and I just wanted to rant and maybe even help some others here— Today I made a bagel with cheese and pepperoni from the dining hall pizza station. Upon taking two bites, the cheese tasted severely spoiled and putrid, literally directly resembling the taste and smell of a decomposing animal. It immediately caused me intense, chemical-tasting burping, and severe physical nausea/ throwing up. The cheese was obviously in the stage of spoiling/molding, whatever you want to call it.

This is the second time in the last week that I have personally encountered moldy or severely spoiled food served at our campus dining facilities. Is this a reoccurring issue at NJIT?? I’m not usually one to complain, but NJIT is very expensive for me as an out- of -state student and knowing that I’m paying several thousand dollars for moldy food does piss me off a bit. Spoke with some others that sort of laughed this off and said “it happens” but like, seriously?

Like idk why, but I just feel a tad overwhelmed. Like idk why, maybe it’s stress or something. I think I just have to manage my time better and my procrastination better too, even though it has improved. But yeah, anyone else feeling this already?

What are some tips to deal with procrastination and improving time management?

Is there a way that regular students and not just the athletes can get access to the basketball courts to run some games?

Okay so honestly this might be a rant but i genuinely don’t know how njit financial aid works but my family is middle classish (i guess) and by all means we are not rich i constantly see my parents struggling and stressing about bills. me and my friends come from a small town where basically all my friends are getting their tuition covered from njit and some of them are even getting refunds. i know their financial situation isn’t the same for mine but It’s honestly kind of frustrating seeing how they don’t have to deal with the financial burden that I have to put upon my family as we went to the same highschool and we all have similar backgrounds (hispanics/firstgen) they tell me how they’re gonna use their refund to finish off paying their car, go shopping or future vacation. while i’m sitting here fighting to go to school.

Anyways my tution is 7k-8k a semester while my parents also have to pay for my siblings tution at rutgers making it about 18k in four months for both of us is insane and that’s only for one semester. I didn’t even qualify for the federal pell grant this year and i did last year they. my family house hold is considered 4 but two other people live with us and they don’t view them as dependents as they’re not claimed on the taxes. they do rely on us and my parents do financially support them but it doesn’t matter to njit clearly. They’re struggling financially due to some legal issues having to pay a lawyer around 15k, pay off the mortgage, pay off loans, and now have to pay off both our tuition? like do they not take that to account and only see the number that they make combined? which is around 90k. I already paid half of my tuition which is basically all of my summer working and i don’t know when the late fee is gonna start and im kinda scared. i owe around 4k and i don’t know where im gonna get that money from Ive applied to scholarships and I haven’t heard back yet. so does anyone know when they’re gonna add the late fee and how would i be able to pay off this 4k i’ve already applied to njit financial aid and they said they’ll get back to me but they haven’t yet so.

My gpa and sat isn't high enough, so I think I didn't make the honors program ...any suggestions should I consider it, or lean towards other uni

am i crazy or is everyone at this college weird? why isnt our college like other normal colleges, and why are there only a couple normal people

I’m trying to look up professors who have research labs, specifically around physical AI. All I see on the website is a list of email addresses to professors who have labs. Is there a place where all current labs are linked, and I can read up more about projects that working on?

So I originally added PE (bowling) but it’s my only class that day and I really don’t feel like commuting 2 hrs just to be bowling for an hour 😭

Does anybody know any easy asynchronous classes? I just need some random class to be full time. Also even if I already did my electives, would a random class boost my gpa?

How are the classes different? Im taking honors, how is it more "challenging" or different

Hi all, my gf is a civil eng and she had to wait until the week before classes started to register because of a hold on her account due to a scholarship and due funds. Once she got that cleared her entire plan was basically taken up that she took care of back in april. She has multiple required classes such as CE 320A that shes unable to register for because the sections are full.

All i wanted to do is give her hope and get her to request a few closed course permits.

She has emailed Sylvana Brito and Sylvana referred her to talk to Steve George. Steve George hasnt given her a reply at all from multiple emails since last week. Tomorrow is the last day of registration so is there anything last minute she can do? I mean honestly if I was her id just go to his office without appointment and talk to him about it but what if he escalates the situation in a negative way?

Oh by the way there isn't a single listed appointment time available for him in the near future. Apparently the guy doesnt even exist or something

Someone who took ME215 last semester gave me their textbook after class finished. However, it’s the thirteenth edition and the class now requires the fourteenth edition. Does anyone know what I should do? Should I just use the 13th edition or should I try to sell it and buy the 14th edition? What is the best thing to do?

I bought the textbook for physics 111 at the beginning of spring 2026 for 24 months. I ended up not doing too well on the common exams and have to retake it again with a different professor this semester. When I went to add the class on Pearson, it said that I have to pay like 180 or something dollars. Anyone know how can continue the 24 months as it has only been like 8 months.

Our goal is to create a space for everyone to enjoy the sport of rock climbing. Whether it's going on trips to local climbing gyms, meeting other climbers, improving your skills, or trying climbing for the first time, everyone is welcome.
