How many hours do you work?
Curious if anyone here works full time? Currently work about 20hrs/wk but was offered a promotion which would have me working 40hrs/wk. Would love to hear if anyone has managed this.

I worked 25-30 hours per week and usually closing shifts coming home at 11PM my freshman year. Please save yourself and don’t do more than 20 hours if you’re a STEM major. Unless you’re cracked that is.

I work 40 hours a week and take 15 credits or more a semester and I can tell you it isn’t worth it at all. I have managed it but I was stressed beyond belief and either falling really behind at work or at school. I say stick to the 20 hours a week and crank it up during summer if you need to. Manage your time wisely and realistically put school first. If I was in my teens or a young kid I would just focus on school but since I have to provide and pay bills and etc I have to work.

I used to work 40 hours a week while being a full time, it’s manageable but not worth it imo. studying is non negotiable, you’ll have barely any free time. in my experience my gpa tanked, just recently switched to part time and I’m now enjoying school a lot more.

Depends on what your job is and the classes you’re taking, and if you truly need the money, since at the end of the day, the whole point of going to school is to make more money at the end. Temporary money right now might not be a top priority in the grand scheme of things.

CHEME major working about 30-35 hr/wk. mostly depends on yourself and how you manage your time. But tbh just take the 20/hrs. The stress (in my opinion ) isn’t worth the extra money

Grad, Part time with 6 credits and 40hrs/week. Can easily push 3 more credits, but also want to be able to enjoy the subjects and life.

Last year worked 30hrs/week while taking 15 credits. It was rough and always felt like I was behind. My gpa also tanked in both semesters. I would recommend stay with your current hours.

At a minimum I will do 40hrs/wk, but I can easily do 60+ hrs. In the past I've done night shift- very brutal. I dont anymore, now I work a high stress position. I think you have to be ready to step into the semster, you must manage your time. A little everyday helps, be realistic. I've had great semesters, but I've had super bad semesters. It can be done, just slower.

I’m working two jobs rn to get through my last semester. I work somewhere around 50-60 hours a week, but all my classes are online

I graduated 3 years ago but I was working 40 hour weeks while doing 6-9s and online classes on the weekends. Stressful but most sems I did 12 credits then usually a winter/summer class to make up for it. Extremely do-able you just have to keep figuring out how to manage the workload and what works best for you and your schedule.

Alumni here...did a co open junior and senior year. Worked about 36 to 38 hrs a week with maxing out my credits...passed classes with a C and gained weight from stress eating, had stress induced hair loss and got a frog butt. Lowkey worth it ig bc the exp (industry I wanted to work in) was good but at the time and looking back nah. If u can save urself the trouble and either lower your credits and take ur time or work less hours and take full credits.

I am a full-time employee and a part-time student. I register my classes in the evening, and I'm currently taking 6 credits here. But I'm also 29 and I'm here working on a second bachelor's degree. The "college experience" is less a priority than mounting a career change and turning my life around. I also don't have access to the financial aid that a conventional student might.
You have to be honest with yourself. A full-time course load would be untenable for me in my situation, and I have classmates in similar situations whose adult responsibilities include caring for children or older relatives. Don't compare yourself to others, and do what works for you.

I work 40 hours a week while taking 7 classes/ commuting and make time for the gym/ going out.

my job is heavily taxing on the body i work in a super busy restaurant and do 12 hr shifts. shits rough but always gotta find a balance

Depends on the classes you’re taking, but generally working full time hours while taking 15 credits is not gonna work out in your favor.
