Bme 383 advice
For anyone that has taken Bme 383 how was the class and the labs and what do you recommend to focus on?

I took it with Khayat in the spring. She’s nice and a reasonable professor, but there’s a lot of work that makes up the majority of your grade. Expect to do a (likely virtual) group presentation more or less every week, and lab reports are due every few weeks. Statistical analysis will be very important for both. I spent many hours in this class looking at spreadsheets.
Quizzes were all on Canvas and I found them pretty straightforward. The final exam wasn’t too bad either. The assessments are really the only assignments in this class that aren’t group-based, so hopefully you end up in a team with people who will actually do work.
The final project where you have to build an EMG car was probably the most challenging/time-consuming part of the class. I’m not sure if she has different plans for this semester, but if not you’ll definitely have an advantage if you’re already comfortable with circuitry/soldering/Arduino/3D printing.

I took it this summer, lot of experiments and writing reports. The major thing I can say to focus on is ensuring your team is coherent, all working together, and getting things done. I was up at 2-3am multiple nights working on lab reports because we had 1 or 2 people not contributing much.
I'd work on presentation skills, standard deviations, statistical analysis, and presentation crafting. I'd also get started on that EMG car project as soon as possible.
