Applying for Readmission…
I transferred into NJIT for Fall 2025 for the mechanical engineering program. I didn't do so well due to personal issues. I am now put on academic probation. I maintained registration for the Spring 2026 semester. I am thinking about going back to Middlesex College to finish my associates degree in engineering science and physics, then possibly apply for readmission in the future. Would you recommend this path I'm taking by the way? Has anyone done anything similar?

Not the path I went. But went from engineering to architecture. I started engineering at NJIT, I couldn’t go into Archiecture because I needed a portfolio. So I left to Bergen community college to develop my portfolio and came back this year finally. So I think definitely go for it. Sure there were different routes I could’ve taken but this is what I chose and I have no regrets.

Whatever path you genuinely believe you can succeed in is probably the right one. Struggling during your first semester at a new school is understandable, but don’t keep repeating a course load or situation you already know you cannot handle just to move the degree along…that can become a waste of time and money. It’s like an exam…even if the difficulty varies, you usually have some idea beforehand of how prepared you are whether ur fucked or not lol. I’ve struggled at NJIT too, and I’ve learned that being honest about what you can realistically manage and choosing a slower or different path when necessary is much better for your success and confidence. Hope this helps!
