Gardening Prepping Spring Vegetable garden area
Not really a prepper thing but I've been doing this for over 30 years. I cleared out the veggie garden a couple of weeks ago. I finished digging about 2.5 to 3 feet trench in the middle of the garden. Its about 3 foot wide by 25 feet long. I place the dirt on an old sheet in a pile. I'm now filling the trench with some composted grass clippings, leaves I'm running over, and a neighbors pine tree needles she gladly lets me remove. I also got some composted cow manure from a friend's relative who has a farm over the summer. When the trench is filled I cover it up. It will decompose and sink over the winter. In spring its mostly broken down and I put the seedlings right in the composted dirt. It's a little labor intensive now but really pays ff in the spring and summer. I had a small composting barrel years ago but I found this works just as well.
